OT: Off-Topic, again.

I know this will make me come across like an alcoholic but I just can't get behind the event this year given Williamson County runs it now which means no alcohol sales. Throwing back flagons of water while watching Axel the Sot just doesn't work.

I'm sure this is not a problem for most though and hope you have a good time if you go. Seems they actually had capacity issues over the weekend and had to turn people away so obviously folks like me are in the minority. Hope you made it in ok.
We actually did not go this past weekend, We are going to go this coming weekend. The no alcohol thing will be an annoyance it is nice to be able to walk around with your mug as you enjoy the day. I can't even imagine Axel the Sot without requisite liquor. That dude is horribly inappropriate and insanely funny.

I usually go to the Ren fair, once a season to shop mostly. The shows haven’t changed in years. The liability insurance needed to serve alcohol is pricey and the county just got the rights to the fair in March/April. They may have it back next year.

Apparently it's a county wide thing. They just don't allow alcohol at county run events. Maybe (hopefully) they'll change the rule for next year.

Second gen, grandpa is a leafs fan 🤢 haha
To be fair (heh) when we olds were young there were only 6-12 teams. I liked the Flyers because they were the new team talked about near where I lived in Virginia (and also because my FIRST team was the Dixie Flyers because as a 9 year old I really didn't know the difference.)

Looking at coming down Saturday for it. Looked at getting tickets online but I am not liking the service fees, will just try to get there before they decide they are full up...but if by chance you see folks wandering around downtown in Ren Faire garb you'll know they sold out.

I didn't know selling out was even a thing.

When we went in 2019 we paid at the gate. If you had no baggage, ie no purse or backpack or whatever, you just breezed through entry but if you brought stuff you had a bit of a wait.

These guys are local and are Preds fans!

There is a subculture of folks who believe they are elves, fae/fairies, otherkin. There is also a whole genre of YA fiction around this as well.
Why can't those people wear Spock ears, like normal folk?

I have seen some elf ears around Milwaukee in the last 2 or 3 years and I don't get out much, except for hockey. Generally, it is young women wearing them, but some of them look 25 or so.

Lots of elf ears out there today and my buddy Axel the Sot as well. Buckle and Swash we're worthy and the juggler dude, Paolo Garbanzo is insane. Cap all this off with a veteran discount and despite a 5 hour round trip it was a good day.

They go the next two weekends if y'all are looking for something to do and it is a better people watching experience than Disney and maybe equal to the airport.

I remember going a long time ago and we had had quite the dry spell. It rained a bit and let me tell you NO ONE was upset about that. People were dancing in the fields (nonscripted--but the ad lib was quite memorable).

Battleship USS Tennessee and World War 2

USS Tennessee was already an aging vessel when she was moored alongside USS West Virginia and ahead of USS Arizona on December 7, 1941. But the "Big Ten" would not only survive the attack, she would go on to participate in more battles and fire more salvos than any other US battleship of the Second World War.

Wawa is coming to Mid-TN, set to open their first Nashville location in 2025 and build potentially 40 locations in the mid-state. You have no idea how exciting this is, the town I grew up in is home to the first Wawa ever. The best part is authentic Philly pretzels (get them in the morning when they're fresh), and FREE tire air.

I stopped at one in Georgia on my way back from Florida. It reminded me of our Total Wine stores, except it was even larger.

I bought a snack and checked out the price of a 12-pack of Yuengling. It was $2 cheaper than the grocery store in Florida. Lesson learned.
