OT: Off-Topic, again.

Yeah, credit cards have some scum on them, but nothing compares to "payday" loan places or "get cash now" places. Makes me sick.
Ironically, I'm the ultimate socialist, but I don't even really mind these somehow. I used them once upon a time a long time ago. I figure if you know what you need and what you're willing to pay for it, or SHOULD KNOW anyway, and you still want to do it... heck, it's better than loansharks. They're offering a product. At a price. A ridiculous price. But if you have looked at all your options and you're still willing to pay that price... uh, well, ok, at least there is that option out there as a last resort. :dunno:

And if you want to smoke crack, and you know (or should know) the cost and the risks, and are still willing to do it... uh, ok, it's your life.

Then of course in my socialist utopia we'll still take care of you even if you make such a bad decision. But hardly anybody will need to make those decisions anymore because we'll have been taking care of you better long before it comes to that. :thumbu:
:naughty:

Haha, I understand your reasoning, and in a perfect world it makes sense, but I don't think that's the way people actually are. I don't buy the idea that most humans think sufficiently rational when deciding whether to use services like this especially when adding in factors like poverty, poor education, culture, desperation. I would simply say these businesses target these people who often lack the ability to know what they are getting into. I think that is super unethical. Straight grimy. But hey, obviously, I acknowledge these places are legal and expressing my opinion on them over a hockey forum means nothing .

Puttin all y’all on notice right f***ing now.

I get my likes privileges back tomorrow.

Good, you owe people a bunch of likes.

It seems like it has been 6 months and you had to move to a different state.

Man, the penalties are harsh!

I haven't seen any posts about Hynes getting fined $25K after a game misconduct for the Caps game.

My guess is that he said something nasty to the refs about their officiating.

Maybe we should establish the Tim Peel Fund to help him pay that?

I have no problem signing up for a card, getting the sign up bonus, then canceling. Moving on to the next card and doing the same. Rinse/repeat with each type every couple of years. They find their victims but I'm certainly not one of them. This is free money for the disciplined souls out there. I travel a ton for free thanks to this.

With that said, there is one card I always keep specifically because of the benefits. If you're responsible there is no reason at all to use a debit card over a really good credit card. I'm not aware of any debit card that offers perks like primary rental car insurance, trip cancelation, purchase protection, warranty extension, lounge access, etc. Of course those perks have to matter to you.
For me the distinction is less "responsible" or "disciplined" and more "obsessive about tracking this stuff". I can (and do) do that sort of ad-hackery with computer software and hardware. With financial bureaucracy, I don't have the strength or the patience. There's a talent to it that not everyone has.

I need some tech help.

The last 2 games I have had a terrible, terrible time getting into the arena.

Everything worked fine this and last season, just super slow to connect and bring up the tickets.

Until Feb 12. My tix that night were coming up as a screenshot when they were scanned, even though you could clearly see the little line going back and forth through the barcode. I went to the ticket window and after trying 2 different phones I was finally able to get a text with my tickets.

My parking pass and season ticket id all worked fine.

Feb 24 I bring up my tickets and the barcode was grayed out. I go over to the window and the same lady texted me the tickets again.

I checked my stadium series tickets and the bar was all grayed out again. I called the Preds office and the guy checked it out and sent a report to the ticket office. He called back and said everything seems to be working on his/their end. He logged into my account on 2 different phones (1 iPhone and 1 android) and they all could see the barcode just fine.

Eventually after trying a bunch of things that didn't work, he just sent the tickets by a text so I'm ok for tomorrow, but I have no idea what to do the rest of the season.

I have a new android phone that I got between the 2 games, and everything is up to date. I un/re-installed the nhl app. He wanted me to send him a screenshot of what I was seeing but my phone said I wasn't allowed to do that.

Does anyone have any clue about what could be causing that?

So if you are in management and run a day shift and night shift, you serve day shift fresh hot food and then give night shift cold food out of the refrigerator for " employee appreciation day ". Your night shift will show its appreciation by keeping your machines down all night.

Hey, today was my company's Employee Appreciation Day too. I would pretty cheerfully take the cold food, tbh. All I got was a spam email saying how appreciated we are.

Although I guess we all got the same spam email, equally. :dunno:

At least you can all be equally pissed. Although tbh most of day shift is pretty ticked about how they did us.

Worst thing is, I don't think anybody is even particularly pissed, it's just basically about what we'd expect. Ironically, the mild amusement we get out of it is probably worse for morale than them just not having a Day and not sending the email at all. They could have skipped the email and we'd have never even known to roll our eyes and make jokes about it all day.

I know I'm SUPER late to this conversation but I just upgraded my Southwest card last month to the priority card with the upgraded boardings and travel credits. I also just last week received my Discover card so for the first time ever I have two credit cards. I mainly got the Discover card to keep active forever while I churn the Southwest card every two years for the sign up bonus. What other perks am I missing out on that I may not know about? I'm down to play the game, just need to follow the leader a little bit first.
