I agree. Rodrigues made it farther than I ever envisioned when he left Buffalo. Staying with Pittsburgh would be best for him IMO. But, all the more power to a player trying to get paid. Job security is a thing.

On a podcast that I listened too, a former American AHL player, said that if they attempted to bail on the contract and leave to come home, that there would be severe consequences. I don't recall from where. Honestly it was months ago.

I think the IIHF enforces contracts to stop poaching but if ever a reason for them to decline to do so

I might be mistaken though, I recall there’s some mediating party in the agreement between leagues

He may be peddling nonsense to fill the airtime but what you were comenting on was commentary/opinion, not reporting -- he specifically made that clear. I don't think you really hurt your credibility by making dumb prognostications, as long as you don't sell it as sourced reporting.

My answer to this has always been to run a non-traditional 4th line for at least a season.

Skinner - Thompson - Tuch
Asplund - Mittelstadt - Olofsson
Krebs - Cozens - Okposo
Quinn - Girgensons - Peterka
x Murray, Ruotsalainen

Samuelsson - Dahlin
Power - Jokiharju
Bryson - XXX
x Fitzgerald

Just let the kids play and develop. Okposo and Girgensons contracts end this coming season. Some of the younger players will build value and potentially make trades in the following off-season.

Posters are talking about moving Olofsson. I'd wait a season and see what he does over the course of a full season when healthy. Then make a move. If you do that, the following season looks like this for the forwards:

Skinner - Thompson - Tuch
Asplund - Mittelstadt - Peterka
Quinn - Krebs - Cozens
Murray - xxx - Ruotsalainen

in arbitration…buffalo can do any arb award on Olofsson fir one year and not blink any.

Pittsburgh is up against the cap if they keep Letang and Malkin

I'm sorry but after years of Botterill shopping the clearance rack and last years Island of Misfit toys additions, I really hope we won't take on any project players like Bear or Monahan at this point. We have assets and cap space, use them to get functional NHL players. And we have enough unpolished prospects and projects on our own roster to try to fix without taking on another teams cast offs. Give me good players other teams can't fit under the cap or teams looking to rebuild selling off their core.

Injuries, and he just had hip surgery at the end of the season. Never had blazing speed to begin with but I'd imagine he may be even slower now.

An even AHL deal likely is better than his KHL deal at this point, if the clubs can even pay him.

I'd be on board with a Pilut-Joker bottom pair, assuming Pilut can play on the same level still as he did previously.

Poltapov through 24-25 and Novikov through 22-23 (according to EliteProspects)

Haven't seen any updates since Adams said he was leaning towards returning for his senior season. I don't think he's actually committed yet though so I'm not sure what the delay is other than him actually considering going pro.
