Watching Eichel on the PP, I hope they throw the whole bag at him to come home
Watching Eichel and McDavid compete against each other, I know some will say I am talking out of my ass, but I will say it any way, I think given the choice I think I would prefer watching Eichel in a Bruins uniform. Eichel's game is so complete, I would really enjoy watching him.........I will add I know it will never happen.

This is a great move. It makes me think he’ll be coach in a few years. I think this also shows what management thought about the teams leadership since he left. This is also why I leave Marchand to come up with a new team to skate off into the sunset with. Let big Z deal with a whole new group of guys that he never played with. Welcome back Z!
I appreciate what you're saying.

To me, Zdeno is not a coach.

*He is the General Manager.*

Nor, for that matter, is Patrice a coach.

*He is the President of Hockey Operations.*

I've done the math.

I hope, someday, Charlie Jacobs will too.

What makes you think Chara could be a successful GM?

Here is my July 4th prediction
Donskov coach
Sacco assoc coach
Marchand resigned
Bruins draft 1 of:
Frondell
Martone
Desnoyers
Eklund
O’Brien
I see a scenario where Marchand comes back if he tests the waters and finds the market does not bear what he thought he would get for his services. If so, Bruins make a two year deal for reasonable money or - maybe borrowing a page from the Bergy/Krecji final contracts - a lower salary with decent bonuses linked to individual and team successes. The team success threshold is an add-on, but I like it. I don’t think he regains the C.

Why would he shop around when he just moved into new house wife spent a year remodeling and with 3 kids in school system and friends

Bruins offers 3/18.9 2 months ago and went 3-11-2

Because the NHL is obsessed with hiring former players, so I'd expect one of the smarter ones to play would do well.
I hope he is his first hire would be a guy he greatly respects - Joe Sacco

The only Hall of Fame caliber player that's currently a GM is Yzerman.

For the most part, great players aren't even interested in that job. They want to stay down on the ice. Think they can coach, but usually they fail.

I think the perfect role for Chara in this organization is as an advisor with a focus on culture.

I also think he would excel in player development, but who knows if that’s something that appeals to him.

But then Marchand said no, which might have made the Bruins say, huh?!? Really? Marchand doesn’t want to play here for $19m dollars? Well, that changes things.
8 weeks today July 4th we will know by then lol

I got all the info about Sullivan before he was even let go and told friends who belong here - I was told Marchand coming back they already met

Good News if I’m wrong I’ll blame my buddies lol

Chara per one of his former teammates likes being Chara and able to do whatever he wants not be stuck in a demanding position like GM or player personnel

If he wants to do the London marathon he’s doing it not doing a presser or following Caleb Desnoyers Memorial Cup run

The hidden star is Langenbrunner

I don’t think he will “shop around,” but I do think his agent will do his due diligence and see what the offers are and present them to his client - especially since the agent’s fee is a percentage of the contract proceeds.

According to my buddy they met and he’s back. He had a hall pass he will be playing 2nd line LW next season gif the Bruins

Now I’m a first generation blamer - my parents were very accountable so not sure what happened - so if I’m wrong I’m ready but I don’t think so

We also need to discuss Martin Necas

He’s at the World Championships with Pasta (watching right now/ Pasta playing and Lauko as well who’s already been in two scrums)

Clearly Pasta will be recruiting him and Necas a UFA after next season like Eichel

Necas did not have a great first round with Colorado and got shown up by the guy he was traded for - Rantanen. He got accused of playing peripheral

Breaking: Pastrnak just stopped on a penalty shot

Be curious what the Avs offer

Curious if TOR 1st + Poitras or Lysell gets it done for Necas.

Colorado gave up Rantanem for him, and it cost them an early exit. I doubt if they decided to move him, a late first and 2 ahlers, one with a 2nd line ceiling, and the other more than likely bouncing back and fourth from the A to the NHL or going back to Sweden. I dont see as even being remotely close enough for a deal to land Necas, and I could see McFarland hanging up before you could counter with a legit offer, and put you on his blocked list till the end of time..

The father or the nepo-baby son?
The father.

His son is far from a nepo baby. Mason was a late 5th round pick and is going into his senior year at Harvard. He's a right shot defenseman. if he signs with the Bruins organization, it will be an AHL contract.

In case you don't know, you actually have to get into Harvard academically. They do not admit people just to play sports and they do not have scholarships for athletes. His son has earned everything.

Even the captaincy of the team.

Necas was 1 piece of the deal. Lets not act like it was a 1 for 1 swap. Necas is also going into the final year of his deal. If he tells COL he intends to test FA after next season, then Colorado would be foolish to not explore deals for him. Can you imagine if Necas walks for nothing? You think the backlash they got for Rantenen ending their season is bad, imagine what would happen if one of those piece then walked a year later and you had nothing to show for it.

Now lets add to that, Colorado has ~$8 million in cap space, but is only at 18 of 23 spots filled, they need some cap space. You know what the going rate for a guy like Necas is at the TDL and being a pending UFA? History says it a 1st + Prospect if he's having another good season.

COL can get that now + an additional $6.5 million in cap space to work with in the off-season to build their roster out. Poitras can play in the NHL now, so they also get an NHL ready talent that plays center, and as you said has the upside of a 2C.....which they need.

Now am I saying this deal is perfect? No, but the foundation of it is there.

Even the captaincy of the team.
They name 3 captains and they are all seniors. Won't be surprised if he is named one for this season. No one batted an eyelash when Ryan Donato was one so it makes me laugh that suddenly it is an issue..

I just looked it up and Jamie Langenbrunner is an Assistant GM and is in charge of player personnel. He doesn't have as much pull as people think. That would be Evan Gold.

I scratch my head at some things that get posted here.

Barring any trades and using the AFP Anayltics contract projections to pencil in new contracts for the Bruins' RFAs*, the Bruins will seemingly have ~$17M in cap space this off-season to fill in five forward spots and two slots on defense. (22 man roster)

Non-UFA candidates to possibly fill some of the spots?
  • Matt Poitras, Fraser Minten, Fabian Lysell, Patrick Brown, Georgi Merkulov, John Farinacci
  • Frederic Brunet, Michael Callahan, Ian Mitchell

*I am assuming that they will not re-sign Johnny Beecher.
