That's the one, right there.

Knew things were sour down there when they became the first team in NHL history to want Haula long term.
you have the 2ov pick who was decent in his rookie season. You already have Dougie to a monster deal. You then sign Pesce to a monster deal. Your new coach doesnt love Nemec. He plays Kovacevic. I like him. Fitzgerald signs him to a long term extension because "he wanted bigger back there". You have Siegenthaler long term. Dillon long term. Luke going to get a long term deal. Where does that leave Nemec? I get deal for him and reap the bennies for a decade. Offer Torontos 1.

who in the blue hell is Misha Donskov lol

I posted a really good article about him above that is helpful. The only actual assistant coach on Team Canada at the Four Nations (built by Sweeney), did the scouting and analytics for building the Las Vegas expansion roster, then stepped in as assistant coach in Dallas.

Oh hell, I forgot Dillon. He just kept adding and adding to the blueline and I don't think I realized he didn't stop.

If they take the Leafs pick, you do that yesterday.

The only thing that gives me pause is Holtz not turning into a 30 goal guy once he escaped.

Thanks dude
No problem. It's in the Coach thread.

I like him and what he does and how, as Jamie Benn put it, he's the Stars' 'secret weapon' as he talks a lot one on one with the players identifying opponents' weaknesses etc.

My hesitation has always been with giving a coach the Head Coach job for the first time. Maybe with Sacco in the background it works.

Not a ton of cap space. Decent amount of positions to fill. Plenty of uninspiring UFAs. Deadweight cap dump in Haula likely. Could see Noesen get moved potentially but he produces well for his cap hit. Best move to free up a little cash and get a return for them without dancing around clauses is Mercer, whom I would happily start a package with Poitras for.
they wont want to trade Mercer for futures.

they also were missing hamilton and hughes though so like chill bro you lost to one of the best teams in the conference missing some important pieces

By this time next week both Marchand and Monty could both be back here driving kids to school ~ maybe even get 18 in together

I have Brad 80 % back here

Misha Donskov 80 % as next head coach

Joe Sacco 80 % assistant coach

Let’s see how I did on July 4th
You may be right, but I hope all of it’s wrong. I want Torts, Sacco gone and some actual leadership. Marchand was great back when he was himself.

This is a great move. It makes me think he’ll be coach in a few years. I think this also shows what management thought about the teams leadership since he left. This is also why I leave Marchand to come up with a new team to skate off into the sunset with. Let big Z deal with a whole new group of guys that he never played with. Welcome back Z!

As opposed to letting an NHL team court him and get a better salary? think he wasn’t ready for prime time?
I think he did what made him happy ~ he was ready, heck I could have won a Cup with the 22-23 Bruins.

He didn’t want to leave at this time in his life

Also if I was his advisor I would not recommend Boston. This place isn’t easy

I don't see getting Nemec for just the Leafs pick.
