Boston Bruins Off Season Roster/ Cap Discussion II

As someone that watched every game of the Oilers-Kings series, Frederic seems like he's playing the same way he ended in Boston - completely unnoticeable in every way (for good or ill). I honestly completely forgot he was even playing for Edmonton until he missed an wide-open chance in overtime in game 4 lol.
I thought that about Coyle....did he do anything at all?

In regard to yesterday’s discussion

Brad Marchand "so proud" of wife Katrina for renovating $1,799,000 home as her first real estate project in Boston
Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand is celebrating his wife Katrina's successful debut in real estate renovation. Katrina, a licensed home designer and entrepreneur, completed her first project: a fully renovated single-family home at 2 Leeds Street in South Boston, now listed for $1,799,000. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom property features over 2,000 square feet of living space, a finished basement, private yard, and two parking spots. Marchand expressed his pride on Instagram, writing, “Huge congrats to @kasloane @kbmliving for completing her first renovation project! So proud of you!!!” Katrina clarified the home is a professional project, not their personal residence, and teased upcoming before-and-after photos of the transformation.

This team really needs to leave Marchand in Florida or anywhere else but here, unless he signs a one year deal so they can ship him out again at the deadline

I'm not giving Lohrei a long term deal right now, I'm hoping they get Geekie a bit less than $6M and Jokiharju I think 3.6M it's fair.
I know the odds are long, but should the Bruins be fortunate enough to land Shaefer, then you move Loheri, for help up front, no way he gets that contract at this stage of his career.

I think moving Lohrei if they get Schaefer is pre-mature for a whole bunch of reasons.

One, there are no guarantees Schaefer is in the NHL next year. He's a few days away from being a 2026 pick and missed a large portion of this season. 18-year old (barely) D-men almost never crack the NHL as full-timers right out of camp. Even Makar and Hughes went back and played their next year outside the NHL and Schaefer isn't projected as another Makar or Hughes.

Two, they really don't know what is going to happen with Hampus Lindholm. At one point they thought he'd be back this year, Sweeney's words, and then suddenly he was done for the year.

Three, moving Lohrei coming off a league-worst plus/minus is selling low. There is zero rush to move him, it's not like he will be able to command a long-term deal. Bridge him and kick that can down the road.

I somewhat agree, all three could see NHL playing time in the later half of next year ... but still too many "if's" ... I'm a proponent of selling the pick we get tomorrow night for more immediate impact players....just my opinion but Detroit's Larkin, Seattle's Wright or Berniers, Duck's Mason McTavish, etc ....and for any of those I'd expect we'd have to add ...but I'd consider it to help next year's team
I’d give up more than just that pick for McTavish. He’s going to be a great Bruin.

I agree and think 3 of those players could be available, can't see Berniers getting moved. Wright is looking like a true top line center and I have always liked Larkin.
I'm also not against trading the pic for a scoring winger or a top tier D, we seriously need to match Pasta's timeline and not wait for 3-5 years for development. I would likely keep Schaefer or Misa if we end up with #1 or #2 though, seem to be a cut above the rest.

How do people feel about Geekie @$6.5M? Lohrei @$5.5M (long term) or $3M (bridge)? Jokiharju @$3.6M?
I don’t get concerned with contract amounts—that’s the Bruins business.

Geekie deserves a long term deal in Boston.

I’m indifferent about Jokiharju—sign him or move on. The Bruins had time to evaluate him this season and will make their choice.

Lohrei does not deserve a long term deal. He needs to prove he can play defense on a 1-2 year bridge deal first. If his defense doesn’t improve over that time move on from him.

Good thing they didn't move on that Marchand kid because his offense needed to improve after his first year

Am I the only one who thinks $3.6M for Jokiharju is insane? That feels insane to me.
If I had to pay someone 3.6M between Lindgren, Fabbro, or Joki, I would do it in that order. I think Lindgren will cost more though. If you lose out on Marner, I’d poke at Gavrikov pretty hard if you think someone can move someone to the right side. Trade Peeke. Acquire Perbix or Lundqist for 3rd pair. Ride Spoons or Callahan at 7d.

Yep, more overpaid than Peeke
Cap is going up significantly over the next few years...today's "overpay" may be tomorrow's "steal".

Average salaries will continue to rise.

Edit: to clarify:

This year's cap was $88M. Next year is $95.5M. Year after will be ~$104M.

Peeke's salary just went from 3% of cap to 2.8%.

That same salary will be 2.6% the year after. Dynamics of salaries will continue to change and I don't think people are ready for that.
