@phillipmike you're gonna have to hit the showers and turn into Kramer from that Seinfeld episode.

Apparently Michael Brantley is also talking with the Jays as well. He's got a brilliant looking swing as a much needed lefty bat (who hits for power and contact) and he's always been a fine outfielder defensively - he'd be a great addition to the organization as well as long as the price isn't too steep. Right now their fielding is looking like:

C - Jansen/McGuire/Kirk
1B - Tellez
2B - Biggio
SS - Bichette
3B - Vladdy
LF - Gurriel
CF - Springer
RF - Teo

If they can get Brantley, they could possibly DH Teoscar and have Brantley take over in right. I know the big hole is at 3B since Vladdy is an obvious liability as a fielder but they do have two insanely talented infielders coming through their prospect pipeline in Martin and Groshans, whether we'll see them in 2021 or not though I'm not sure.

Kirby Yates is also a very underrated signing. It's a cheap and short term deal for a pitcher who was one of the best relivers in the league the last time a "normal" season was played

Beyond the rotation, lefty batting is a big need for the team in my opinion. Could really use some balance. I'd say those are the two needs in the short and medium term. Can always play with the bullpen as you go along each year

Gurriel to Cleveland for Plesac, who says no?
Gurriel is one of the most valuable pieces the Jays have. He's on one of the friendliest contracts for someone with such talents, he won't hit FA until years from now, and at 27, he's only getting better. He'd be one of the last guys the GMs should be looking to move

Plesac has 6 years of team control left and already surpassed Gurriel's WAR as a pitcher last year. You have to give to get.

Marcus Stroman’s ego is his undoing. He’s not a number 1 starter in a rotation, he can be a 3/4 guy. His piss poor attitude, the ‘swagger’ he apparently has, year in and year out thinks his shit don’t stink.

The two are very different defensive players and play different positions but just to further the appreciation for Springers offensive abilities, take a look at this.

Josh Donaldson 2015-2017:
.285/.387/.559/.946
13.5 BB% / 19.0 K%
.274 ISO
.399 wOBA
154 wRC+

George Springer 2019-2020:
.284/.376/.576/.953
11.7 BB% / 19.4 K%
.292 ISO
.394 wOBA
153 wRC+

...yeah

Reminds me of Evander Kane back in Winnipeg

There were times where I thought Stroman would be Romero 2.0 but he's clearly much better than that. I won't lie his attitude was cool to see when he was a 24-year old sophomore coming back to pitch in the playoffs after recovering from a torn ACL but the fact that he's still on about this "swagger" stuff now is cringeworthy and holds back any team he's on.

Phillips said Bauer is still in the mix. I have red flags with Bauer but could you imagine?

After signing Springer the Blue Jays lose the 54th overall pick in the 2021 draft (1,338,500) and 500,000 INT FA 21’ Money
