Cooper won't be on the bench as it makes no sense to have a 1B/DH unless you platoon him with someone but Jays can't. I am guessing we get another infielder.

But rest looks right. Pretty deep and balanced team.

Guessing Happ starts out in the minors unless Oliver retires or they decide to send Delabar down... or if somebody gets injured out of ST.

Happ over Cecil AINEC.

Not sure if Happ has an option left (dont think so)... but he's way too good to be in AAA. He's gonna be the long reliever and spot starter... an upgrade even on CV.

Cecil and Rogers are the first to go.

If Oliver stays, then is Delabar not the first demote? I seem to recall he can be optioned. Cecil needs waivers first, and I'm not sure if he makes it through.

dont be so sure
besides lind for a prospect saves 5 million etc

Anyway, since Buck = Dickey's 2012 salary + Thole's likely arb number, we're not gaining any money in this deal. I would doubt that our arb guys left (Cecil, Rasmus, Happ, Bonifacio) will not be more than 12M combined and that leaves pretty much Lawrie and Arencibia. Ignoring those 6, we're around $102 with this trade, so we're actually unlikely to wind up around $125 as we stand now.

Shi Davidi has us at 119 and change with the trade and arb projections

still need a #5 hitter

Nah we don't. I'm pretty content with this lineup now.

No more trades are necessary.

sign laroche for 15 mil
trade lind (5 mil)

add 10 mil

is that too hefty for rogers?

Thats just stupid money. I think Lind is in for a good year. Albeit this the last time I say that though. If this year ain't worth something for Lind then you ship him out any way you can.

Sounds about right. That's about 8M between Lawrie and Arecibia.

I'm not sure what the guess would be to get Swisher. Is $11M/yr probable? Definitely wouldn't do that. That said, get him for about $6-8M/yr for a season or two, I think I do it, and I think Rogers would concur.

If i'm right both lawrie and arencibia are pre-arb guys so around 500k each. And Swisher turned down a 13 million qualifying offer so i doubt he signs for 6-8 million or even 11 million. He is probably looking at 4/60 or 5/70.

I don't see anything else happening, but you never know. A guy can look at what this team has turned into and think about taking a bit less money to go for it themselves

I'm intrigued by Laroche myself. Nationals reportedly have a 2yr + option offer to him that they will pull by Christmas. If we could get him on a 3 year/39 million deal similar to Napoli i would consider it. This is assuming we can get rid of Lind's 5 million.

Really? Then I can't see how we hit 119M. The group we have right now signed, with Dickey and Thole, is about 102, and the estimate right now for Cecil, Rasmus, Happ and Bonifacio is about 12M combined, so, including Lawrie, Arencibia, Delabar, Rogers and Lincoln (the guys projected to make the team that are Pre-Arbs) all at under 1M means we'll be (un?)lucky to hit ~$117M.

And Swisher turned down a 13 million qualifying offer so i doubt he signs for 6-8 million or even 11 million. He is probably looking at 4/60 or 5/70.

Yeah, no way.

Now, i just hope that JPA will not have problem catching a knucleball on a regular basis.

A knuckle ball can be hard to catch for some catcher.

Neither of those guys have an option. Happ does IIRC so Happ gets pushed out unless they send Delabar down.

When can we expect a press conference announcing both trades and the Melky signing?

WTF?

The Marlin trade and Melky signing had a presser about a month ago... :help:

Where the hell have you guys been?

we're sending cash to the Mets to cover Bucks salary

Meh. I don't think Rogers would see that as being part of the salary budget. That's a singular lump sum a la a contract bonus, IMO.
