What a headline. Thanks for handicapping the AL Central to a 3 team race who are all 2 games within each other. I really thought the Royals who are 16.5 GB and the Tigers, 19.5 GB had a legit shot at the division with 30 games left.

I take the headline as them referring to the fact that no matter who wins that division (of the 3), they’ve received a handicap that places them at a similar advantage to other teams that made the playoffs. A team like the O’s for instance doesn’t receive that same advantage.

EDIT Just looking at the numbers and if the Jays go 12-13 in their final games, the O's would have to win 16 of their last 24 games. They don't have an easy schedule either.

There can be buyouts built into contracts but it has to be in there at the time the contract is signed and I haven't heard anything about one for him. There could be though and I just haven't heard.

Since the deadline, Trevor Richards has been better than all 27 relievers traded at the deadline except for 4. Bass has been great. And Pop has the same WAR as the great Lopez and Fulmer who everyone said were much better than our acquisitions. Bass and Pop have a higher WAR than Fulmer and Lopez.

Merrifield has been bad, but he was brought in for Springer insurance and thankfully Springer is back and he is just a bench piece. Don’t forget Merrifield pretty much won us a game in Minnesota with his base running.

The Merrifield trade was bizarre, we barely even play him. I would rather Castilio over both of Kikuchi and White right now.

The White trade isn't looking good but it's early.

Bass+Pop trade was good imo.

Bradley Jr. was free so who cares.
