Damn what a weak ufa class this is. Only three guys legt after one day that interest me for the Lightning. And even a bigger DAMN that Sy already said he is done.
Woule really like to sign one of Hainsey Fistric or Zidlicky.

Damien Brunner and Ian White are also both still available.

Why do you want to sign bottom pair plugs? If we can't get a decent trade for Brewer might as well keep him as he's better than the 3.

Killorn/Brunner - Filppula - Purcell
Pánik/Palát - Johnson - Thompson
Crombeen - Pyatt - Palát/Pánik

Hedman - Edler
Salo - Carle

Check out the last few lines of this article.

http://www.tampabay.com/sports/hockey/lightning/lightning-signs-center-valtteri-filppula/2130133

Stevie Y says no more free agents and we are not pursuing any trades.

We're going to go this off season doing NOTHING about improving our defense.

And since he has been GM here, has he ever given his plans out to the media? How many times has he said that he wasn't planning on being very active for FA, offseason trades, and the trade deadline? Every single time! And every time he comes up with something that has everybody on this board saying "whoa, didn't see that coming".

Have some patience. He knows just as well as we do what needs fixing.

Palat, Panik, Johnson, Drouin and Barberio will all be with the big club this year, unless they somehow bomb horribly.

EDIT: and of course he said that, you don't negotiate in the media, you only **** yourself when you do that

Wow. That is such a soft first three lines. We really need to look at a pwf in the near future. Of course take care of defense next, but Purcell, Filppula, Drouin/Killorn, Stamkos and MSL in the top 6? Then the next is nothing but small rookies. Palat and Panik can hold their own but think about them vs other teams 3rd/4th lines. :scared:

I somewhat agree with you but then again just look at the Red Wings' top-6 or even top-9. They aren't exactly tough either but get the job done (the Wings have been a top or at least playoff team for years now).

thats why I think they don't rush JT Brown. he can be that guy down the road, also a reason Adam Erne was a good pick.

Erne, if he develops, is that power forward. Panik if he plays his game, is that Power Forward. Not sure what you meant by JT Brown. He's not a power forward. If he makes the team this year it will be as a 3rd/4th line guy. If the organization sees him as a scoring forward, he will remain in Syracuse to try to fill that role there first, he hasn't been asked to do that yet.

Yeah but they are experienced and built. Franzen, Datsyuk, Alfredsson(now), Zetterberg, Helm, Cleary, Holmstrom, all guys that are or have played that arent the most physical but can hold their own. Much like MSL and Stamkos can but to a certain extent. Thats some soft guys up their including a few rooks, Filppula and Purcell to boot, all in your top 6 or 9....

JT Brown? He's tiny, that isnt his game I dont think...Erne, yes, but in the future. We need something for now other than "3 punches and Im tired" Crombeen and "I like to laugh" Malone who will most likely be on the same line most of the year.

Yeah I see Panik and Palat turning out to be very good two way forwards that can establish their game in a checking/dynamic offensive game. Both are good, but they still arent the most experienced when coming up against Orr, Clarkson, Fraser, Lucic, Thornton, Paille, Neil, etc that wil be in our division this year. Yikes.

I'm not worried about any of those guys. When you start building your team with the worry of one person to play against, you're playing for a lottery pick.

Lol...its not one guy, its that Detroit, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, etc all have lines capable of physically dominating and shutting down any of our lines. Yeah this is all speculation, but from what we all saw last year, was an incredibly laid back Stamkos, soft hands mcgee in Purcell, and some younger guys coming into the mix for an entire season. Yeah, Neil isnt the greatest hockey player but when he's constantly, every game, in the face of our top two lines, who matches up with him? Or who matches up with any of our divisional opponents 3rd/4th lines?

Basically this year is, feed 'em to the wolves and see how they do. Could go really well, could go mediocre, could go really bad. Thank God we have Gudas still. He's basically the only person on the team that can put the fear of God into the opponent. Wish we still had Downie...............................

Keep Downie, no Vasi in the goalie pipeline.

Was a big Downie fan...I wish we would've kept him. You're right, he needed to go and in the end we have a very promising stud in Vasilevski, but he was such a good player. yeah he took a lot of boneheaded penalties and usually got his ass kicked, but he was a thorn in everybodys side.

I'll never forget that game 3 in 2011 when he absolutely demolished Lovejoy behind the net. I was there and watched him take that whole run, thought he nearly killed the guy.

In some respect it's easier to get a goalie (certainly a goalie prospect) than it is to get heart.

Losing players like Downie, Bergenheim and Moore sucked the air out of the team's sails. Last season the only players close to replacing the missing heart were the Crunch kids (and maybe Thompson).

We'll see how replacing Vinny goes. Maybe it's a move big enough to shake things up, maybe it's just depleting the 'heart' and 'leadership' department even more.

Drafting Drouin, resigning PC Labrie are good first steps.

egg zack lee. He along with Bergenheim and Moore gave their heart and soul to the team, just to be traded, turned down and traded. I wouldnt have let Downie go, he was what a hockey team is made of. Bergenheim wanted too much but he was gold for us, yes, just one season but he was a big tim playoff performer, a likeable guy and just a perfect fit all around. With no disrespect to Moore as he was damn good at times, he was replaceable.
