He might not be in the booth but I doubt he will be missing out. The team will find a way to make him feel like a part of it all, I guarantee you that

Hopefully! I don't know what Tripp's next steps entail, but if it involves stepping away for 30 days (as these things can), we won't have won the Cup by then. If somehow we do win it, I'm sure he'll be around in some capacity as you've mentioned.

It's sort of crazy we didn't see any obvious signs prior to last night's Tweet. Just goes to show, you never know what someone is dealing with even if their public appearance seems polished and well put together.
I dunno, there have been a few games where he's said some things during the broadcasts that, looking back, it makes you wonder a little bit....

Regardless, I am just glad he's taking care of the issues and getting himself into the place he wants to be. I doubt he'll be a part of the broadcasts before opening night next year, mainly because being around a bunch of drunk fans in the pre or post game probably isn't the best place for him in the immediate future.

Well I think we all assumed that was just Tripp being Tripp. I still do, but yeah maybe it was amplified. Time will tell.

Won't the playoffs be national broadcasts anyway? I don't want to make light of his situation and wish him nothing but the best but wouldn't he have been done for the year after tomorrow either way, at least on tv?

Unless ESPN is different, don't local markets usually get some of the first round?

As I stated in another thread I didn't think anything of it last night when he wasn't there, my thoughts were family emergency or illness, it happens. IIRC Forslund missed a game or two not that long ago for those reasons. I also didn't see his tweets yesterday and I wasn't following this GDT much last night.

Sad he won't be here for the playoffs. But he also doesn't need to be in the vicinity of beer chugging fans.

Yeah for those who were around on here before the game it was a bit concerning. Especially a comment about him having to "surrender" in one post. That's a scary word when dealing with an alcohol/drug issue...

I thought about that... my take is, he was to be on TV last night, but failed to be in the condition to perform his job, and so he wasn't. "Surrendering" doesn't have to be anything more serious than that he just couldn't get the cork closed in time.

Same thing happened to a workmate of mine not too long ago. I had only recently learned that he has the booze gene as a family burden when he once was visibly drunk at work. Then one day before a night shift, he had to call our supervisor that he couldn't cut the intaking and thusly is incapable of showing up at work for that night.

You cross one line when it happens that the alcohol finally prevents you from performing your job, and it should be a wake up call obviously, but in the end, it's maybe still more a scheduling failure than a dramatic turn for the worse when talking about the sickness itself.

This is a valid take. I obviously know nothing of Tripp's situation, but I've certainly been out to lunch with work people before where the "cork" was popped and we all went back after lunch a little buzzed. This generally only happens when a vendor takes us out. Does it get out of control, no. Do we do it often, no. However, it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility that there may come a time that someone takes it too far and can't functionally do their work. When you're in situations like that sometimes you lose control even if that's the opposite of what you set out to do.
