Smith must be excited. Gets to play with Howden now.
Looking at the whole picture, no it wasn't, I wasnt much a fan of trading for Smith either, but at least he tried to correct it. Could have been worse and him waiting till 2:00PM tomorrow and got a awful return of a 4th.Not trading for Smith to begin with was always on the table and it's not like people didn't say it at the time.
All told, we received basically nothing to take a draft pick 10-15 spots lower.
It's not a big deal but this wasn't Drury's best work.
Yeah FWIW I'm not saying we should all be excited about the guy. It happens he's a player I was loudly advocating for during his draft year, and I watched a lot of him, so I know he does possess plenty of natural ability. I have no idea if he'll be able to turn that ability into anything meaningful, especially given that I haven't watched him in a long time. But, if this is the type of guy who was available, I'm glad we grabbed him (or likewise, if it was a late 2nd without Brisson or an early third with Brisson, I'm good with the 3rd/Brisson option).Hopefully he goes the way of Brett Howden.
The rapper WIll Smith or the guy from San Jose? Will Smith be the last RW to play with Kreider and Zibanejad? Who has the full list.

I'd trade a 1OA for that - never mind a 2nd and a 5th.The trade had its purpose. It was the final attempt to turn lead into gold, finding the magic key, a RW for Mika and Kreider.
It just put an end to all 'Bern' like proposals
pretty good compWe know Drury has been interested in a guy like Tommy Novak. I dont think it's out of the realm of possibility they can develop Brisson into Tommy Novak.
Othmann isnt getting you any elite talent. I think we'd be lucky to get a 25 year old 3C with playoff experience for him. Not to say I dont like him enough but he's not the type of prospect that is going to be the centerpiece in a blockbuster deal.
Quid Pro Quo...who is Pat"s biggest clients?Brisson:
Drafted 29th overall, Son of NHL Agent Pat Brisson. This year for the AHL Henderson Silver Knights Brisson is 3rd in scoring; in 52 games has 19 goals and 19 assists with 42 Penalty minutes.
Strengths: Vision, offensive awareness, playmaking skills, and finishing ability.

Speaking of Tommy Novak, why did he get traded for basically nothing to a team that's not even in the race? What even was that?We know Drury has been interested in a guy like Tommy Novak. I dont think it's out of the realm of possibility they can develop Brisson into Tommy Novak.
pretty good comp
if he's to become a 40-50pts guy, that'd be a grand slam

I'm still mad about that.

When Gorton sold his players off, he went on NHL EDGE, sorted by speed, and took all the guys at the bottom of the list. Our organizational depth is strong at wing. Drury targeting young controllable centers with attributes the pro scouts like (Parssinen, Brisson) is smarter than anything Gorton did when selling his players off.
