Tanev for Buchenvich and a second.

The canucks need more forward
prospects. Other than Boeser they dont have any potential top six forwards. The Rangers get their top pairing rhd. I think it makes sence for both teams. Tanev could make the rangers contenders and Buch could help the canucks rebuild.

I think Tanev could get more. Buch is a good prospect, but he's not a sure thing. That's a huge gamble for the Canucks to take.

Canucks don't touch this.

You know how high we are on Buch? They're higher on Tanev.

Rangers take Tanev and then do what during the expansion draft? Bad trade.

That's a really good point too. Would they be able to protect him and the others with Girardi and Staal still there?

Don't think either side does this.

Girardi, Staal, Tanev, are u suggesting they pile up all the same type of D playing in the NHL in the same team?

Tanev is too valuable to the Canucks, it would take an overpayment, this is not it.

NYR can't really afford to trade anymore bluechip prospects. However, I'd begrudgingly accept this deal if they could find some way to move Girardi. Tanev is just too good to pass up.

This would be massively disappointing to see happen after we just traded a better package (McCann and a 2nd) for a worse dman (Gudbranson)..

Are you saying that McCann and a 2nd rounder are a better package than Tanev?

Also Buchnevich has yet to play a game in the NHL but he's better than Gudbranson?

Yes he is. But they already have too many poor man's Tanevs.

Well, Tanev is one of the best shutdown defencemen in the nhl. He actually has good advanced stats. Also, he will put up more points in ny than in vancouver. Its a great fit.

Rangers do not need or want Tanev. They have plenty of multi-million dollar stay at home blueliners already.

Love Tanev, but Buch has the potential to be a star. I'd rather offer them JT Miller+, which is still a great deal. I wouldn't give up a guy with Buch's ceiling to acquire a one-dimensional shot suppressor, albeit the best shot suppressor in the league last season.

It would take a lot more than Miller to get Tanev and he does more than just supress shots.

Not long ago I made a thread offering Miller + Graves + 1st for Tanev, but some got offended at the mere thought. :)

Just saying about Tanev, he isn't really a playmaker or someone who is going to add much offense. He's an excellent shutdown d-man and I'd overpay for that right now, especially a RD, but Tanev is never going to be considered a star in this league IMO. Buch does have that potential, so I'd rather keep the guy with the high ceiling.

Think about it this way Miller might be a good second liner, he could just as easily be a 3rd line W. We have plenty of players like that. Graves might be a top 4 someday, key word MIGHT. The 1st will most likely be in the 20-30 range, which at best usually equates to a 3rd liner. Why would we give up a proven player who is still young on a good contract that we direly need for that, where is the incentive?

None of that should be enticing for a rebuilding team who would be giving up their best dman.

It would be like us offering you guys a 2nd rounder, Sven Baertschi and Guillaume Brisebois for Kris Kreider.

Wait, Vancouver is rebuilding?
