I know fans think Trouba is a dick, but I'd put money on Trouba letting up when it comes to Chytil.
Also, while Trouba has actually been good to great on the whole for us, he's only had like 1 or 2 big hits so far.

He has been much less physical than anticipated, aside from pushing people out of the crease.

will sure miss jt millers heart and soul dragging the team to battle with him. in the longrun it helps the canucks in other areas and more cap space.

Did Vancouver trade the wrong player?

I think it was obvious or at least should have been to anyone in Van that was watching regularly that JT would be the better player the rest of the year. Whatever’s going on with Pettersson isn’t getting fixed this year. But we’ll have to wait to see if and when he rebounds and when Miller starts aging out. And that’s ignoring whether Miller burned too many other bridges to stay even with Pettersson gone

Okay, I take most of that as valid.

What you didn't reference is that a lot of people were lamenting Miller's down year. It seems like maybe it was just a tough situation (one he at least partially created) that was why his numbers were down.

It's not to say that he will continue this into his mid 30's, but he seems to be that 1PPG+ player early on for the Rangers.

To me that's the only miscalculation. Obviously there's other things to consider (personalities, contracts, player age).

Fair enough. To me he was clearly battling something physically most of the year in Van along with the off-ice stuff, and was likely to rebound anywhere he went. Lazy play is an issue with him when things go sour but I think anyone writing off his abilities as already declining was just coping.

Hate to say it but I don’t like Miller on the Rangers. Still was kinda hoping he’d wind up in NJ. He’s what we need right now. And he’s killing it in NY so far.

Of course Miller is killing it, he’s an excellent player coming off a 100+ point season.

How NJD didn’t drive up the price to acquire him is shocking. He would be the teams best player if they had acquired him.

Miller was obviously gonna be better this season, anyone expecting otherwise is lying to themselves, we can only truly judge this trade in a couple of years to see how Petey bounces back with a proper offseason with training and getting the strength in his legs back.

I'm glad Miller is doing well but he mailed it in here in Vancouver, no other way to describe why all of a sudden he is playing so well.

I honestly don't get why Canucks fans have praised JR and Allvin so much. I don't think they've done a "bad" job but I don't think they've made a ton of good moves either.

Pretty meh performance overall IMO.

Spoken like a fan who doesn't care about winning a Stanley Cup. There should only be ONE way to judge sports owners and GMs:

Wins and Losses.

The Canucks have 3 playoff appearances and only 2 series wins since 2012. If you think ownership/management isn't doing a "bad" job then I'm scared to hear what you think a bad job is.

What happened to EP’s one-timer? He used to rip top shelf from the right side all the time, I fell like I never see that anymore. Shoulder issues?

It's all relative. If you lived through the Benning years as long as we have, it makes JR and Allvin seem like Messiah's, although the Pettersson contract and the JT debacle has soured fans at least to the point JR and Allvin no longer walk on water.

No one seems to have a clear answer. Maybe his knee is affecting his ability to get torque on his shot. He’s dealt with some wrist problems as well. Might just be confidence. But I’ve never seen a 25 year old seem to lose all his skills at once.

It's too soon to judge the trade or say they traded the wrong player and should have kept JT over Pettersson's 8 shots on net...

I'm only kidding. It was obvious something more was going on with Pettersson.

at least part of it seems to be rebound control. canucks rarely take set piece wrist shots from the slot any more either. they pound everything in from the point or high slot well away from the boards at an angle where the rebound should not ring around the boards and cause an exit. you could argue pettersson's offence got filtered out of the team's offensive system.

I agree, it seems like most of Alvin's trades are corrections for mistakes he's made during other trades or signings.

on one hand it shows he's active at getting rid of some dead weight, and on the other it shows he has terrible judgement.

Allvin and JR haven't been running the team for that long and they had to clean up Benning's mistakes. Blaming them for the failures of the Canucks before they got there is silly.

They were great last year, but have been pretty meh outside of last year and they don't seem to be on a positive trend. Saying they've done a bad job so far wouldn't be fair, at least not yet.

Biggest loser is Carolina. Adding Miller would have completely changed the complexion of that team, they have needed another C since Trochek left.

Now, Miller may not have agreed to go there, but damn that is the exact player they need.

this. before Miller gave up on the team before his mental break, this is the Miller in Vancouver. the whole trade impasse was whether to value this year (and next) over the course of their contracts. Trading Miller is sacrificing this year. There is something seriously wrong with Pettersson this year, but betting that his unnatural play being the norm is folly in my opinion, this year will likely bottom out at some point, after his body/mind heals, I think vancouver get the elite player back. Whereas Miller has a new lease on life living a more anonymous life in America, in a city that suits his.....opinions than a very mono-liberal Vancouver.
