Call me crazy if you want, but why is the talk mostly about Miller vs. Pettersson, and little to no mention of Hughes other than he wants to contend?

The dude is captain. Why isn’t he being partly blamed for letting this rift happen in his locker room?

Rutherford said that this has been going on for a long time, the conflict sometimes dies down, then flares up again, there is nothing you can do about it and talking won't help. Maybe Hughes talked to them and said something like that, it died down and then flared up again, since these two can't stand each other and see each other every day.

If the Rangers continue to drop and pick in the top 13, then that first rounder used to get Miller becomes an unprotected first in 2026. Sounds like that draft has an exceptional player at the top too. Being an older team and on a downward trend this could turn out to be really bad.

If it was that easy, it would have been sorted out a long time ago.

Sometimes 2 people just can't coexist. That's just a fact of life, and you can't pin it on someone else. No different than kids that grow up into lowlifes or drug addicts, despite having good parents.
 
This pushes Zibanejad down to #3C spot where he should be. I don't think the Rangers will be able to get rid of him without retention.

Imo Miller’s issues in the room go beyond just with Pettersson. There was his stick smashing (on the net a year back to get his goalie to move) so it’s highly likely there’s been more going on with him. Great player, but definitely has troubles controlling his emotions. That’s both good, when times are going well, but bad when there are struggles.

Ya'll got absolutely bent, full stop. I'm glad you're happy with the return, but trading away a 100 point 1C signed for $8.5m is in no world "clearing cap space." There's no better use of that money than Miller, who's one of the best value contracts around.

Getting a dime a dozen middle 6 C who's a slight breeze away from a career ending concussion, a #4 d-man who was basically a lock to get dealt by the deadline, and a prospect 75% of Canucks fans have never heard of before the trade, is nowhere near an appropriate return for a player like Miller. And that's even before taking into account that ya'll just hitched your wagon to an $11.5m malcontent who only has one single season in his entire career of ever being worth that kind of money.

Oh Miller's gunna tear apart the overpaid bitchmade Rangers just like he did to EP and it's going to be hilarious.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate the shitbag NBA, it's a joke of a sport and league. But that trade is interesting because it was one of a few scenarios where a team made a deal that blows past the stupidity of the Canucks here, and only 24 hours later

Miller is on an 8 mil per cap. Aging teams that are clearly on the decline, which the Rangers certainly are, should not be trading for more aging (and declining) players. Especially giving up their first rounder to do so. That first is most likely rolled over to being unprotected in a very top heavy 2026 draft. IMO the Rangers are heading in the wrong direction.

Everything you said about the Rags is correct. But if some stupid team offers you a player like Miller for pennies on the dollar, you take it and run and figure the rest out later. They're a flawed team that won't be winning a cup, but I'd be shocked if Miller doesn't at least get them to the playoffs making that pick a very meh asset.

Miller is about $3-4m UNDERPAID right now. He'd have to decline quite a bit just for his $8m to be a fair value. Sure one day years from now he might be as eggregiously overpaid as EP is right now, but at the rate the cap is growing and with Miller showing no signs of slowing down, I'd be shocked if that day happens anytime soon.

I think NYR fans would all love that instead of getting the 13th pick and handing over a potential lottery pick the following year. We're obviously annoyed with the core, but if you remove them, there's a high percentage the team can be worse. We have no idea what Drury is going to do this offseason. I think the 2026 pick may be more important here.

There's always a chance of a potential fracture. I think it's less about Miller having a backup buddy in Trocheck and more about Trocheck being a well respected leader in the locker room. They all love Trocheck and I can see Trocheck being more than just a number for Miller's side of the arguments.

The Canucks don't care about how the Rangers do, they had to move him or the locker room issues would continue to overshadow the team. There's zero way the Canucks could have held him for more.

Getting rid of Miller on day 1 is addition by subtraction.
