“It’s abundantly obvious that they’re trying to make something work with JT Miller. And I think some of the pushback that I got was from the Rangers end, was not so much that it was a clause that was related to the first-round pick being moved, but that it was the Rangers not being willing to take on the entirety of JT Miller’s contract. That ended up being the hangup.”

I still haven't heard that the Canucks would need to retain to move Miller. The Rangers may well have asked for that, but retention on a six-year plus contract was always a non-starter.

It was the media stirring up the BS, the issues weren’t nearly as bad as they wanted them to appear. Pettersson himself isn’t happy Miller is gone
LOL, do you expect EP to say "good riddance". He's saving face. Both players I'm sure are a bit embarrassed and rightfully so.

The trade got nixed because the Canucks wouldn't retain, sure it would have been a non starter but the team trading for the guy with the NMC stopped the trade in it's tracks because they wouldn't take his whole deal despite having a ton of space.

Therefore... the Canucks would have had to retain to get a deal done with the Rangers prior to yesterday.

Honestly this trade will just make things worse for Pettersson.

Probably feels like an outcast even moreso now in that locker room. And now all the pressure is squarely on him to perform. No more excuses.

Dude, Rutherford basically held up a sign saying there’s big problems between them and it’s still the media’s fault for stirring up BS?

And Chytil is a 40-50pt center playing 3rd line minutes (mostly) and zero pp time. If he can avoid concussions and gets better usage in Vancouver I can easily see that progressing in a year or two to 60-70 or possibly even higher.
Yea, dont hold your breath on that.

Imma call absolute BS. You talk to any player in the Canucks locker room right now and what are they going to say if they loved Miller?

"Hurts to see a guy like that go, this isn't the ending anyone wanted, we should have been better than this, he'll be missed"

What are they going to say if they despised him?

What are they going to say if they didn't even know who Miller was because they had nothing to do with him?

Rangers took the Canucks to the cleaners with this one.

Upgraded a third line center to a first liner for a mid 1st rounder in a weak draft and a depth D

Seravelli is a click bait merchant. He likes to stir the pot whenever possible. And to be honest I enjoy is brashness a lot but ya it should be taken with a grain of salt. They're upset sure, they move on this is pro sports. The trade had to be made. The previous report was many of the team wanted him gone.

Yup but the Canucks had to move him. And his contract length is a danger no doubt. Though with the cap going up maybe more manageable.
