Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] Carson Soucy for 2025 3rd round pick

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
We needed to remake our LHD for next season, so I don’t hate it. See how he does. Not a long contract term. Only one more year after this one.

I assume he’ll be part of the defense, but Vaakainanen is a RFA and Miller an RFA who could get traded. Jones likely a goner. Lindgren already a goner. I would hope we have something better than Miller, Soucy, Vaakainanen cooked up as the LHD1, 2, and 3, but whatever. Probably would still be better than what we’ve had this season.

Thank god he’s gone
A 5th rounder would have been win to me

65+or 161+ doesn't matter.
Its a crapshoot or a placeholder though 3rd does sound better.
Its all about getting him off the books and freeing up a slot.

Just brace for Canucks fans who will say he's the worst D man on the team and a liability. Which is not true. He struggled a bit this year but was solid for the last 2.
We do tend to throw our former players under the bus. We basically hate ourselves.

I mean the value seems fair. But do either of these teams know what lane they are in? Are the Nucks gunning for the playsoffs? Are the Rangers selling? Who knows at this point.

How much of that involves the struggles the entirety of Vancouver faced thus far? Any worse than NY this season?
He is a big part of the struggles. Guy can't make a pass out of his own zone to save his life. Makes stupid stupid plays consistently . He hurts my head to watch play.

Basically everything people have said about Myers over the years applies 100% to Soucy.

I thought he meant Apple stock for a second there.

"Sure, their top line growth is slowing, but their margins are strong and I think they're going to benefit from AI. Also, do you want to play for the Rangers?"
I also get confused when they say Gotham and Metropolis. The latter is like calling TO, "The Big Smoke" which was always London's nickname.

Soucy has been a very solid 4-5 type for several years before falling off a cliff this year (especially early in the year - October was brutal). I’ve wondered how much of this is due to having newborn twins at home - he just didn’t look prepared or in shape to start the season and looked like his skating had aged 10 years.

In the end, Elias Pettersson II basically took his job and made him superfluous to requirements.

I like him and wish him well and expect he’ll be a solid player for NY.

I actually forgot how well he played for us last year and what a steal it was to get him from Seattle.
I was considering him all year just another mid level, questionable D with AHL like talent. I forgot he was somebody, that's how well he played.
Hopefully he will pick it up again with his buddy Miller. Wish him well.

this has been speculated all year. Its a point they've missed so far in the discussions here and on the Vancouver channel.
Rags fans should bring it up on there's.

He played great till his injury. Then he was a shadow of himself.

Stopppppppp with this self loathing shit. Canucks fans are not worse than any other too online people who frequent this site and places like X and Reddit.

Not a Canucks fan thing.

I don’t know if he had laser eye surgery or brain surgery in the offseason

He can’t get the puck out of his own zone

It doesn’t matter if it is a uncontrolled or controlled exit
He is in the bottom percentile in the league

He was healthy scratched twice in the last month. Wouldn’t say often but probably would have been scratched more if not for injuries.
Fans are funny in their takes. They see what they want to see. If there is talk of someone they want out of the lineup being scratched, they'll see it whether the player actually sits out or not.

Another fan said EP25 has been badly outplaying Soucy. Soucy has been starting almost 70% of the time in the defensive zone, EP25 has been playing limited minutes against limited opposition and starting 72% of the time in the offensive zone. They are both -1 since EP25 played his first NHL game.

EP25 is looking good for a raw rookie and there is reason to be encouraged, but I find it hilarious how fans underrate the benefit of veteran experience and don't notice, even though the coach has clearly stated how he develops kids, that the kids don't get the same deployment as the vets.

Dumolin plays tougher minutes and churns out better results, Soucy last year was a very good shut down defenseman, but he's been a disaster this season. If he bounces back, this is a huge get for the Rangers because he can play on your 2nd pairing in a shutdown role and be very good, but if he doesn't it's a really bad deal considering he still has 1 more year at 3.3 million
really bad because he’s on the books for one more season…bit dramatic, no?

Right now the Rangers have Urhoe Vakaninen and Calvin DeHan as regulars in their top6.

I'm hoping this guy knocks one of them down. Obvioulsly not looking for and expecting a world beater, hopefully someone who can stabilize things a bit.
