Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] Carson Soucy for 2025 3rd round pick

Well...between Will Borgen and Carson Soucy, I'd say the Rangers have done well to replace Jacob Trouba's 'freight train' style of play.

Whether those two will be good against the best Eastern forwards coverage wise, will remain to be seen, but don't get in their way.
They'll hit the ^%$# out of you...
I can't recall a single Soucy hit in his tenure here. The crosscheck on McDavid?

last year everyone had career years. this year we found out Soucy cannot be played above a #5, he will be a good #5, if the plan was to move him to Lindgren's spot, hes going to crash and burn in a big way. Hes exceptional defending rush entry, but thats about it.
Soucy played well in Seattle prior and Minnesota prior to that. Had a great playoff with the Kraken.

I'm not saying he'll necessarily return to form but I think it's more likely he does than not. He had a knee injury and that always takes a long time to rehab. Even if it's not the rest of this year I'd expect better results next year from him. Time will tell.

I don't know what to tell you about your recollection then.
Maybe some of the Vancouver softness had rubbed off on him, because his tenures with the Kraken and Wild previously were marked with a hitting style.

He hit enough in VAN.....maybe not as much as he did before.
He likely resurrects that playing for a Rangers team that definitely encourages that.

Ok.

So what about my point was wrong? He wasnt Zadorov or anything.

I loved Soucy. Was one of my favourite players. Doesn't mean he wasn't shit this year tho.

Wasn't trying to prove a 'wrong or right' here (yes, I know...how very UN hfboards of me)....but merely pointing out that I DID recall Soucy having a hitting style, and that he did do that some in Vancouver, perhaps not to the point where he was notorious for it.

And yea, he has not been good particularly good in VAN...never disputed that point. Frankly, he never seemed the type to fit into the Canucks' usually fast paced north-south style.

Wild, Kraken, and to an extent NY...teams that put more a premium on more structure and defensive layers? Yea, he fits in better with any of those clubs.

I'll miss him.

He was amazing for us last year but struggled a bit this year. Still, I think he would be pretty good 5/6th defensemen that can slot into the top 4.

Fair value for Soucy if his game has bounced back like Canuck fans have been telling me. Soucy is serviceable. Nice deal for the Rangers. Fair value for Vancouver.

He strruggled for large parts of the year this year. Recency bias in reverse.
Didn’t everybody love this guy during the Canucks run last year?

VCR is such a Beta way of saying Vancouver.

I wish him well. He has been a real mixed bag this year. Brutal start but has somewhat rebounded recently. As others have said. D. Petey has leap far over him and Forbort has been far more consistent.

Vancouver waiving the white flag here? Seems like Soucy was a mainstay of that group.
we was made redundant by a rookie, thats how mainstay he was. Him and Myers pairing was the actual worse pairing in the league at one point this season.

he was playing as a #5 for those teams. thats where he should be slotted on a playoff team.
