I seem to remember Lundquist being really bad over his career vs the Leafs. I could be misremembering though.

Nah you remember right - we destroyed Lundqvist regularly.

So its ironic that every other rags goalie stones us.

I think Holl is expendable, and I wonder if they might try to play him until they trade him? It's hard to move him from the press box.

Same might be true of Dermott. They both certainly only gain trade value as the Leafs move up both the standings and the defensive rankings with them in the lineup.

It's amazing how rough the top 5 is. You need to win 4 games in a row for it to count as 1 with respects to even moving up lol. You lose even one game and 2-3 teams jump you.

It'll be tightly packed for a while yet, even a couple of months from now I expect that the difference between say 6th and 10th in the standings won't be very much at all.

Sure, but trading Dermott doesn't clear much cap space. Not much more for Holl, but it's enough to make a difference in the roster.

I like Dermott more anyway.

I hope their goalie has an off night. Need a nice easy win for once. Also time to pad some stats. Matthews needs a 4 goal game.

Leafs lose 1-0.

Leafs 55 sog rangers 10 sog

2 pps for the Leafs 3 pps for the rangers
Looks like you were trying to participate in the Prediction thread.

Dermott may have more trade value as he's younger with more years of control, while at the same time he struggled in the top 4 even more than Holl did this year.

This year, trading Dermott doesn't save a whole heck of a lot of cap space.

As for next year, Dermott is younger, more skilled and has more room for growth than Holl does.

I would prefer to keep them both. But short-term or long-term, if one of them has to go to make ends meet when the LTIR players come back, I would rather trade Holl and keep Dermott.

The NYR are actually ahead of the Leafs in the standings on points% due to playing less games although both teams have 23 points at this time and coming off 4 straight wins.

We enter this game as the underdogs. Not sure nice easy win will be in the cards, but a hard fought one might get the job done as our Leafs are on a nice role. :)

Fair enough Mess, but I think their goalie is half the reason they are anywhere near the Leafs. If he is “off” then I think leafs can have an easy game. One could argue that for any goalie I suppose.

Our goalie Campbell sits a top the league in SV% and GAA leaders, so truer words have never been spoken of a goalie carrying his team to success as we're riding the hottest goalie in the league into this one. :wg:

By the looks of it we're in for a real goalies battle duel tonight.

The last time we played we lost 2-1 in OT.

Leafs won the last game but lost on the scoreboard, which is obviously all that matters at the end of the day .

Playing at home, running hot with a full lineup, there should be no reason why this team can't win and send a message just in case they meet in the playoffs. I'd enjoy a nice, tight, quiet, forecheck heavy 3-1 victory.
