I get the moves. But again, my question is what if the top 6-9 continue to have nights when they get shut down? Will these hard-to-play-against players bear some of the inevitable scoring brunt?

Are you asking if the 4th line can carry us if our top9 gets shut down?

We'll just chalk that up as a loss and move on

I wouldn't say carry (like Blackwell did for 2 months last season), but pot a couple here and there, pitch in with some timely goals (GTG, GWG, rally-starting goals, etc).

ok this player really piqued my interest so here's some stats:

Over past three years:
-1.47 p/60 - not great but that's a solid bottom 6 rate
-8.7 shots/60 - for context, over the same time period, the Ranger with the highest shots/60 over this time period is..........Chytil with 8. Not counting PdG since he was on other teams.
-14.03 iCorsi/60 - again, the highest Ranger over this same time period is Chytil with 13.19
-13.68 hits/60 - this is 28th in the entire league (min 500 minutes) over this time period, the closest current Ranger to him is Rooney with 10.02
- -4.13 relCA/60
- +1.08% relCF
- +5.4% relxGF

idk I'm pretty impressed, and all of these numbers are considerably better in the last year.

Chytil started to breakout last year. I hope we dont trade him because i think this year we are going to start seeing what a monster he is.

Impressive that he can hit so much while also maintaining positive possession stats. Usually, you see a lot of hits if your team doesn't have the puck.

he kind of reminds me of a super broke-ass version of gallagher. he's just insanely active all over the ice. found it weird that Sjnader had mentioned he never notices him despite how strong he is on zone entries and shots.

Actually, that's exactly what they're trying to build. A team that can score in all different ways. Need to grind out a goal against the Islanders or Bruins or Vegas? Goodrow, Blais, Hunt and Barron can likely do that and do it well. The interesting thing about a bunch of these guys? they are gritty and play an in your face style (well maybe not Barron), but Barron, Blais and Hunt all have deceptively good shots. Point is, last season, we could not grind out a goal when we needed to. We always relied on finesse but you can't play much above .500 in the NHL if you can't score dirty goals and wear opponents down with the forecheck.

Really like this signing. This is how you round out a bottom six. You can spend some money on the centerpiece of the 3rd line like Goodrow if you have multiple other pieces that are cheap or on an ELC. He has had cups of coffee in two small US markets, high shot volume for someone getting barely 11:00 ATOI, and in those same 11min he threw 3.6 hits per game last season lmao. Apparently defensive metrics look good too

Depends on how the pieces fall the remainder of the off-season, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got regular playing time as the season goes along. Even if not, it's a no risk move.

I don't remember much of this guy after his enormous WHL season playing with Howden and Point. Seems like a decent depth signing, though. From what I've read he sounds not awful.

The kid is a thoroughbred. Still to be determined if he has skill between his ears vs top lines to determine if he is a middle six guy or a top 6 guy and if that role is a center or winger in one or the others regard.

I love the way he plays the game when he is confident and healthy. My only concern is his abilities to out smart the competition and not compromise his athletic twitch/response mechanisms that make up his athletic edge.

I'm all for bringing in a kid at presumably little cost that can finish a god damn check. Looking forward to your debut, Dryden.

Do we even know the aav yet? 2way? What's the numbers on this one?
