Objectively hilarious that he gets waived by LA and immediately goes to NY, congrats on the most lateral move of all time Mr. Kaliyev
You’re the man, UncleB. Your work doesn’t go unnoticed brotha, thank you.For those interested, this cost New York $56,250, paid to Los Angeles and not counted against the cap.
Players claimed this season: 21
Total compensation: $608,625
This would shred himWell, damn. Color me surprised. Drury actually did something smart.
Have you checked the standings recently?Honestly, it says a lot about his reputation around the league when so many bottom feeding, offensively starved teams saw him available for free and say, "nah. We're good with Pat Maroon"
He is from here. Staten Island. And trained at Pro Skate in New Jersey as a kid. Played in CT. From Staten Island he moved to Detroit to play for Ceasers.Going from Los Angeles to New York. Bro living the dream
What is the lowdown on Kaliyev the last few years and how likely is it that you think he’ll succeed on a new team?I guess we'll just agree to disagree that potentially picking up a 40 point player on waivers is good, especially when much of that production came from a depth slot and limited minutes.
Was going to say the same, thank you!Exactly what the Rangers needed was another offensive winger with compete concerns that probably needs powerplay time and good deployments to get the most out of!
I think he can become a 20 G, 20 A guy. He had the second-best shot of the 2019 draft after Caufield. He has some underrated vision and can make some good plays. What is the lowdown on Kaliyev the last few years and how likely is it that you think he’ll succeed on a new team?
I think what you are saying is that he missed all the time last season v. not getting quality shots. If so, this is 100% what happened. His best attribute is his shot and he just began shanking every good opportunity. Stick starts to be gripped too tightly, he gets in his own head etc.I think he can become a 20 G, 20 A guy. He has compete issues though. Doesn't do the dirty work. His quality of shots went down as he seemingly lost confidence.
Low risk, medium reward type.
Rempe. Kreider also missed last game with an upper body injurySo who did the Rangers waive or send to the minors, after getting him.
Ahh ok thanks, I guess I assumed Rempe went to the minorsRempe. Kreider also missed last game with an upper body injury
The team that got the 2nd and 1st overall draft picks in 2019 and 2020?I'm still not used to this new Rangers reality. I went "damn Rangers? Took a while for teams to claim him".
Nope, Rangers are 26th in the league, 7th pick.
The team that got the 2nd and 1st overall draft picks in 2019 and 2020?
It hasn’t been that long
Maybe you missed the part where Kakko shot off his mouth and pretty much made himself persona non grata in New York.So basically Drury traded 2019 top pick for a lesser one.
I forgot about the second part.2019 they were bad. In 2020, had the draft been done in reverse standings order at the time of the Covid shut down, they would’ve picked 16th. As it was, the 1OA pick was awarded to the team in the 12th position. Then the Rangers won the lottery for the right to be that team.
I'm honestly shocked he wasn't dealt to Tampa in the Jeannot trade.
Kaliyev seemed like a good player, just didn't workout in LA. I do wonder if he has the same case of bitch-itis a lot of younger players seem to have these days, if that's the reason he never got much of an opportunity in LA.
