The Leafs haven't picked a lot of Americans since he was named Director of U.S. Scouting. Keep in mind he was in the smaller office. Canadian teams don't like to pick college players because if they're good they just wait four years and sign with the Rangers.

Just checked. Outside of Matthews, the US born drafted player from Lilley's tenure with the most games played is Jimmy Hayes. Taken back in 2008 with 334 games played.

The good news is they'll give him priority boarding on his flight.

Wheel him right up to his seat...
And the seats behind him purchased but left empty. Can't have anyone accidentally kick his seat.

How did he get this job? on what merit?

That Carter Verhaehge pick from 2013?

I'm nervous but this but in all fairness, it's harsh to judge picks "outside the top 10" by a team that has disproportionately picked top 10.

I dunno, that's a pretty long stretch to just wash away anything outside the top 10.

Especially after some of the insane debates we've seen on these boards in recent years.
