Halak started awful, but didn't finish so bad? I mean, you can do better than a totally-washed Quick as backup, no?
.882Good for a backup who will play 15-18 games.
Yeah and he won another one 3 weeks ago. But I thought NYR were trying to win one tooGood pick up for a back up. Former cup winner, not getting the hate.
Brodeur is a former cup winner, you think someone should sign him too?Good pick up for a back up. Former cup winner, not getting the hate.
Don’t worry barring injury Igor will play the majority of games so it won’t really matter anyway.as a Devils fan, I couldn't be happier at this news!

And in none of those seasons did he play less than 20 as a backup. Try harder.882

These are his stats the last 5 years - and he's 37. I agree, it is good!
They have to be excited at something since they dont have a starting goalie. Remember just 2 years ago they were saying Blackwood was a future starDon’t worry barring injury Igor will play the majority of games so it won’t really matter anyway.

Well most backup goalies do suck ass which is why they are..backups and not starting goalies.backup goalies play at least 20 games in today's NHL. If you are comfortable with Jonathan Quick playing ~20 games, you probably haven't watched him in a few years.
man, its okay to disagree with moves your own team makes. You don't need to stan every single move. Quick sucks ass.
They are signing whoever is agreeing to play vet minimum. Don’t think there’s more to it than thanI get that the Rangers maybe had a bad experience with Georgiev not working behind Shesty as a "young backup with upside"...but they maybe didn't need to overcorrect quite so thoroughly with guys like Halak or Quick on the absolute last legs. That seems extreme to me.
That's like 25 games a year that you might be throwing away. That's assuming your start stays healthy. Doesn't seem necessary.
Are they just trying to get old timer playoff hero guys to mentor Shestyerkin or something?
I'm sure he will defend firing their coach after 2 seasons and replacing him with Laviolette. Sucks to suck hahabackup goalies play at least 20 games in today's NHL. If you are comfortable with Jonathan Quick playing ~20 games, you probably haven't watched him in a few years.

Don’t worry Louie Domingue can swoop in from Hartford and take a few games.Shesterkin played 58 games last year. That leaves 24 for Quick. Thats still a lot.
Sure buddy. Whatever helps you rationalize thisAnd in none of those seasons did he play less than 20 as a backup. Try harder

We only have 9 back to back games this year, last year we had almost double that. So yea, Igor will playing a lot more than 58 games this year.Shesterkin played 58 games last year. That leaves 24 for Quick. Thats still a lot.

Where is the money coming from? We couldn't afford to keep Georgiev. Every penny counts this offseason. The options for a good backup/1B, etc doesn't exist this year.I get that the Rangers maybe had a bad experience with Georgiev not working behind Shesty as a "young backup with upside"...but they maybe didn't need to overcorrect quite so thoroughly with guys like Halak or Quick on the absolute last legs.
