Im hoping Dolan has a plan that doesnt include jack eichel. If his idea is to bring in someone who will make a grit and sand paper bottom 6 with at least one nasty mother f***er somewhere in the lineup, than im all for it. Gorton really hasnt been all that special. If him and JD distanced themselves from answering the bell last night than f*** them.

That said, Dolan better not f*** this up or im jumping off the bandwagon. I can spend my time and money on other things if dolan brings us back to 97-04. I can program myself to like a different team

They should hire Lundqvist as President
Drury is not the guy for either role.
JD is too old. Gorton and staff deserved to be axed with horrific scouting and roster decisions. His team have been designed to fail miserably in post season play. Soft as charmin garbage scouting and coaching. I have wanted this the last three years. Rangers are a laughing stock failure of an organization.

I love Henrik, but he's a good two or three "developmental management" jobs away from being ready for a job like that.

Drury has literally been groomed for this role for several years now, so I don't know where you're coming from with that.

JD and Gorton haven't built a complete roster. They've been consistent that the re-build isn't over. They have so many prospects in the system that would have been drafted higher in a re-draft that it isn't even funny. I remember when people used to say that it's just not realistic to project a full defense of home-grown players. Now I can't imagine anything else with the plethora of D prospects on the way. You mention the softness of the team. Gee, I wonder if that might be why they drafted Schneider and Cuylle with two of their top three picks last year? They have been building a team, and really, all that was missing was some grit (one of the easier bits to find) and a little bit more time.

I don't think anyone thought they were infallible.

But I can tell you that a ton of people around the league are looking at us like the crazy uncle at a holiday party right now. I mean I guess that's comforting for some folks, but it ain't the majority I can tell you that much.

The last thing I want to do is be Captain Hindsight here or claim “I told you so!” Because that would be inaccurate of me. I didn’t think either guy was horrible.

But the constant jumping to their defense, when this season was historically ridiculous in terms of drama and frustration, always grinded my gears.

Nobody wants to be THAT uncle! ;)

Love how this is generating so many triggered “he’s going to take us back to the 90s!” Carolina, Isles, Caps, they all have these types of players. He’s not a moron that’s building his team of goons. This is a guy that saw what it took to win six championships. Effective leadership and a balance of players that offer a variety of skills. The fact that some keep berating Mess and think he’s a dinosaur is so 2021 new generation of social media know-it alls

So, who goes?

Not Panarin, Laf or Kakko.

Strome, Buch, Zibanejad? All would seem like options for a big shake up.

Again this team needs to walk out of this coming offseason with a player like Lundell.

20, physical and talented.

This is the first time I've jumped on this thread. But I read today's official team statement. Then someone mentioned Messier. He has more experience than Quinn did. Save yourself JD. Hire Mess.

This entire situation is 100% proof that we are indeed living in a simulation. There is no way what has unfolded this season would unfold in an organic reality.
You can build new games within games... you can play the Sims as a kid playing the Sims... latter half of my generation the test dummies... I may be disabled and outrageously high, but you guys are cool, so I'll lead you out of this, watch

Anyone else just incredibly sad atm? The course this team was on with all the youth in place. Lucking into those lottery picks. All the moves since the "letter" was sent out. A true rebuild I never thought I would see in my life time. I'm not a fan of Drury because of his tenure here as captain but I will root for him and hope he makes all the right moves but I had full trust in JD and Gorts in their vision going forward. I am just fearful of Dolan's meddling and Drury being a yes man to him. I'm worried about some Isiah Thomas Knick level tomfoolery at this point. I don't want figureheads like Messier meddling. Sigh, I'm just really really sad. I was so excited for this team for the first time in a while and now I'm just fearful.
I’m not sad, myself, but the situation is indeed really sad.
Not to mention, I just had to try to explain to my son the psycho fit he saw laid on Pavel and Artemi. I think I’ll wait a little while to broach this topic.
The Rangers are a parenting challenge.

It's a punch in the gut no doubt.

If we as fans feel this organization is less stable today than it was yesterday, imagine how our Star prospects feel.

This move puts alot in jeopardy, Drury has almost no wiggle room to fail or God forbid sit atop any other off ice drama.

One freakin year big deal. And more importantly he acted like a jerk to his team mates and others. Why would anyone want someone like this on their team,,,and the fact is no one did. Back in the early 90s the Yankees had a guy on the team named Mel Hall who had some talent but was a big A hole and bad team mate . He was giving Bernie Wilson a hard time constantly. Well the Yankees got rid of him and the team and clubhouse did a 180 and the rest is history. I don't get why anyone would want a clown like this being on the team even if he has some talent.

Wow not really the same thing at all. Hall was a vet who had never had a season that compared to what Tony did as a 2nd year player last year. Also Hall is a legitimate bad dude - I've yet to come to that conclusion about DeAngelo though most others have

Other than the fact Zibanejad is our greatest positional weakness, I think he would be the perfect odd man out for a shake up. I think the fact they didn't end up naming him captain says something

The one major thing about this is that it's likely an endorsement of Quinn. If he was going to get fired, have to believe it would have happened then. Doesn't make much sense to drop the axe on two others but leave him unless you are sticking with him next season.

Eh, could be maintaining status quo for the guys on the ice through the week.

Been working so while I know what is going on (posted earlier) I think I am going to see how this plays out before reacting.

For those of us that have been around a minute, I think we need to remember that Dolan did fire Neil Smith one year after blessing off on a re-tooling, so it's not uncharacteristic of Lil Jimmy D pulling the plug here.

I hope that they target someone that wants to play an in-your face brand of hockey. I think that's a style that better aligns with NYC, at least the NYC I once knew.

I personally do not think Drury is the guy to lead that endeavor, but again, I will temper my reaction until I see what I see.

I would be okay with moving on from Strome, Zib, and Buch. I love Buch and Zib but they're due for pay days and all 3 have good value now. I'm worried the kids are on the chopping block to get make the playoffs now guys.

Interesting. Shave your head before taking an afternoon nap in a cancer hospital and this is what you wake up to.

....but if Dolan wanted that letter out and Davidson and Gorton wanted distance.....to me the letter needed to go out. Parros and Wilson are clowns and the NHL is in the wrong not the Rangers and f*** that corporate happy tool Bettman. I’ve never liked that f***er and he’s the reason this concussion issue has never been looked into correctly. He’d rather lie out his ass to suck up to billionaires.
