We really don't need to do that. We have a bunch of giants in the system already, and both Rempe and Chmelar have got serious bite to their games, and look to have the odds in their favors to have NHL careers.

Having Colton Orrs on your roster nowadays just doesn't cut it. A guy needs to be able to play hockey too. Realistically, the only reason having Colton Orrs on the roster ever cut it was probably because every team in the league carried a face puncher who was a liability between the whistles.

I dont know what Colton Orr you remember, but he was more Kocur/Asham than Tanner Glass/Stu Bickel.

Not quite Probert/McSorley/Simon level, but not a liablity. For us anyway and the first few years in TO. Eventually yeah, he tailed off.

That said. Chemlar isnt anything yet, and Rempe is still raw and awkward because of body type. Its not abad thing to turn hot garbage into something useful by sacrificing immediate low reward retruns for down the road righer rewards, especially in a low-cost niche role that adds replenishable depth.

De Hann and a handful of our AHL guys are junk to us. A non playoff team. To a contender who depletes assets year in year out, De Hann and a skilled gamble may be face-value more immediately beneficial to his GM career than some "face puncher" with potential is 2+ years from now.

De Hann isnt getting us anything better than a 6/7 rd'er immediately. Id rather gamble that him plus a magic bean gets us a depth player that we can insert in a couple years when we are contending again and cap space is tight.

has Lindy played with Colorado yet?

Great trade. De Haan could pull a Stu Bickel and play one shift every game and he is still a colossal upgrade. Heck I think many of the plodding Dark Ages defenseman would be an upgrade over Lindgren. What is Rumun Ndur or Peter Popovic doing these days?

De Haan is a throwback and a gamer, even though he is older and has no talent. Willing shot blocker/PKer/shooter and I appreciate the stick taps he gives out to his teammates after shifts.

Parssinen we should have a modicum of patience with imo. laviolette doesnt trust anyone on that line fully. I liked that he's been willing to be physical down low. he's a real solid defender in that he stays close to his man, unlike other guys on the team.

to get these players on top of draft pick compensation was a great trade no matter how you slice it.

I'm for anyone that is willing to play defense on this team.

Drives me crazy how much space they give to opponents. Yesterday there was a 3 on 3 late in the third period. Washington was skating with it slowly (think Kreider carrying the puck type pace) and yet they still left one guy wide open for a shot. I can't even talk about the d-zone. Our guys cover no one. At least they are starting to block shots.

It's just wild how in roughly 3 years Lindgren, Trouba, and Goodrow all went from serious mid-roster players to some of the worst performing guys in the NHL. Granted Goodrow was never 'great' but he could survive on a competent third line. Now he barely plays and is still a -29 somehow

Did we do that? Or did age?

Lot's of mileage on all 3 guys. And lots of playing injured.

I've already seen enough. I wanna see Big Cal back for another couple of years.

He can legit defend. He's a veteran with a great understanding of what his game is and a lot to impart.

People laughed at the analytics comment but I appreciated it. He's a student of the game and cares about his performance.

Drury deserves hell for some things he's done and I'm not sanctifying the guy by any means, but going from Lindgren and Trouba to this cat and Borgen is absolutely crazy.

Vaak has held his own as well!
