Zibanejad has been much better recently. Definitely since they came back from Xmas break. He's got an NMC so the best case is that he rehabilitates himself and becomes an overpaid 2C. We can't rely on him for primary offense anymore.
I appreciate you trying to find positives, but Mika's short handed "breakaway" attempt in the 2nd period basically sums up his current skill level.

With all due respect, Zibanejad was going today. If Chytil were to replace anyone it would be Lafreniere (also lefty for lefty)
Or Trocheck. With everything else that's been going wrong with this team, I don't know if we've focused enough on how bad Trocheck has been all season.

Rifling on the no goal call today; is there anything in the current rules that would stop a goalie having an 'equipment issue' that requires attention at the bench after every goal (or at least everyone that looked like it had a tight zone entry) in order to allow the coaching staff more looks at a replay before the puck is dropped?

They need to get rid of challenging offsides. It is so hard to score a goal in hockey, and a player being offsides by a hair should not be negating that.

I wonder what people will complain about if Mika continues to play the way he has since the x-mas break?

It should be there to correct the 'howler' decision, not be a forensic investigation of what has occurred (because otherwise why doesn't every other decision deserve the same amount of scrutiny? Cameras on each end of the blue line, and overhead shot and one looking up the ice. Linesmen gets one real speed look at each angle, if there's nothing conclusive then the call on the ice stands. Each review won't take more than 30-40 seconds and all howlers will be eliminated while still giving the impetus (and onus) to the linesman to get the goals right live.

So easy

There was a scuffle mid way through the game with Laffy and I noticed Panarin joke fighting with one of the Caps. Like they were both laughing because Bread was obviously trying to be silly. I’m not saying this to bash Panarin, I’m just using it as more fuel in my Panarin to Caps at TDL for Leonard fantasies.

One good thing about this team is they make it so easy to turn them off. I’ve been wanting to cut back on my Rangers obsession so that’s been going well. I noped out after the missed high stick/goal overturn.

Brilliant challenge by the Caps, I give them credit, that was smart loopholing.

That said, I f@$#ing hate this rule and wish it would go the way of the two-line pass!

Poor Quick, he can't steal them all. This defense is atrocious. I loved seeing Ferraro rip into Miller during the first period. He needs to go ASAP

This team is absolutely brutal to watch. Turned off the game with 3 minutes left in the 2nd period to watch the Sirens game instead and ZERO REGRETS.

This is currently the 4th best hockey team in the metro area at the moment. Throw out the first two weeks of the season and this team hasn't been scoring goals all year.

Also, Ryan Lindgren would currently be hard pressed to be a serviceable ECHL defenseman.

Maybe we should dress 7 defensemen. Play Jones and Fox on PP1. At least Jones can walk the blue line. Take Kreider off PP1 if he’s not gonna get in front of the G. On D it looks like the Dmen are playing man to man and the forwards look like they’re playing zone.. What a mess. Players are stinking it up but the coaches need to go. Especially Housley.

Nice, now we get to watch our prospect who isn’t even going to sign with us play in the WJC semi-finals in a few hours.
C'mon with the negativity man: where's the proof? Some guy on Twitter said something because he got a guy who knows a guy who has sources?

He was drafted by Drury, Fortescue is with him, and he has a chip on his shoulder from dropping to 23. Plus he's showed up at Proscpect Camp both summers. The team and their "issues" this year won't be in scope as soon as this summer or summer 2026.

This is just like the "Kreider wants to sign with the Bruins" or "Hagelin wants to sign with the Red Wings" stuff from back in the day if you remember it.
