Proposal: NYR and Stl

The main ask I would like is Robertson and 1st 2023 for tarasenko.

My thoughts were can we add barbashev and add retention and take cap dump for kravstov too.
We don't have cap dumps. We have caps with clauses that we can't move.

So you are saying you would do this
Kravtsov, Robertson, later of Dallas or Rangers 2023 1st and Blais for Tarasenko at 50% and Barbashev

Rangers can't afford to re-sign either player so they aren't giving up a 1st in this year's draft for a rental.

But, they may be willing to trade their 2024 1st for a rental.

I think Blues fans are going to be underwhelmed with the return for Tarasenko. I don't think he's looked good this year and especially not since his return from injury.

Barbashev is a player I'd like to see them re-sign in the offseason if they can keep his cap hit reasonable.

no on rentals
more youth to lose vets and recycle existing youth
partially to upgrade talent base
but more to control the cap, not be controlled by it

last season was a lesson
we got a sugar high on rentals we could not extend
other than Vatrano, who was worth more than the 4th we paid, and could have been extended at 3.5-ish + instead of Carpenter and coupla losers,
should not have added Copp etc

worse, adding those guys interfered w/mins for our youth

no rentals no more vets
exceptions to the rule not withstanding

OP offers quality to NY, just not a match on currency principally due to cap
Howev, Tara will get something from somewhere

The fun part about his return from Injury is he played very well game one, and in game two Robert Thomas got his Nards Cracked by a Slap Shot from Torey Krug. And has been stuck on a line centered by Noel Acciari. He should have much better results after the All Star Break when Thomas is no longer "sore" as Berube says and can play with an actual top 6 Centerman in either Thomas or Schenn again.

We have bolduc and snuggerud most likely getting a good look next year roberston will help us on the d side. If there was a way to get both kravstov and Robertson for tarasenko and barbashev retained and taking a cap dump back I think it would work. Throw a 3rd from stl to even things out.

Sometimes you just can't argue with know it alls that probably never played the sport in their life.
That's rich lol but if you prefer to make crap up when you get pissy, be my guest

I never said he can't play Center, just that he hasn't primarily done that, even last year when he was doing it more; but the bigger point is that your OP was about the Rangers getting a center as motivation for the deal when the Rangers don't need a center

NYR - Sammy Blais, Cuylle, 2024 1st round pick
STL - Tarasenko 50% retained, Barbashev
No, I'd rather trade one of our or Dallas 2023 1st. The 2024 1st here is taking a hopeful risk that the team bombs out. I'd want to give Cuylle a real shot before trading him.

I was always a Tarasenko fan and I'm sure whatever line combo is being used isn't benefiting him right now, but if we're going to spend a first a Cuylle, it better be for somebody who has more than 6 5 on 5 goals this season, considering our problem is putting pucks in the net. While our powerplay is also struggling, we really don't need another powerplay threat, we need a powerplay that doesn't run through 1 play.

It’s very hard to score 5 v 5 goals when our defense aside from Krug cannot complete a pass on the tape 75% of the time.

Trading Cuylle would be dumb especially for two guys we will lose after this year.

Jones + Avs 2023 3rd
for
Blues 2024 2nd

Why would we do that?

We have 4 contracted NHL Defensemen for the next two seasons on LD. 3 of which are going to be extremely difficult to move.

We are in no position to trade down a puck to acquire a guy. Jones is one of the few that I’d be ok with if a prospect is traded in to a deal for a Blues player.

But we are way to plum full with hard to move contracts at LD that we ideally need a guy that’s about 2 seasons out from seeing regular ice time at the NHL level.

1 unaware from StL perspective you were super stocked at LD
If it helps, ones is lefty, but can play either side.

2. I went there b'c you advised few good passing D on Blues
Jones' game not without shortcomings, but he, in the style of Fox and redundant as such in NY, fits that particular need

3. As to value + currency:
Jones was a 3rd rounder; adding a late current 3rd rounder for better 3rd this yr or a 2nd in 2024
NY only interested in picks which add no cap.

If that is a fit, great!
If not, sorry but NY gotta be about cap next yr + after which we repurpose Trouba + bread

Could you NYR fans be interested in Russian sammy blias (Toropchenko)? Maybe something like Toro + 2nd for someone else like butch? I really like butch.

Rangers only players like butch are Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad which they are not giving up for a relatively unknown fringe Russian 4th liner in Alexey Toropchenko and a 2nd round pick.

Not saying it's a great deal, but you literally just when you said your team has 1 guy that complete a pass. The fact that you have guys who by your own admission aren't good doesn't negate the need for getting guys at that position who are good.

Krug
Leddy

Waive Rosen, let Mikkola walk

Gives you space for 1 more LD who can play and another to be the 7th.

We can accommodate another LHD, but needs to be full size. We have too many small ones.

fair enuf. but unicorns that have size and skate well w/speed and do it all hard to come by and are not cheap
Fair enough. But if we have to compromise it would be on something other than size, since we have too many small and they don’t play well together. Seems like rangers would be better place for Jones as their d general all have size (other than fox).
