News: NYR actively looking for a Center & Right Wing before deadline.

why? every Flames game i've watched he looks pretty good.
He's having a great season, but I'm not convinced he will repeat and we have a ton of middle 6 wingers, including some waiting in the wings. So I think it could be a smart asset management move if we could get a 1st for him.

A package from the Ducks seems like a good bet here.

Small - Henrique+Carrick
Medium - Henrique + Silferberg
Large - Henrique + Vatrano
Huge - Henrique + Zegras

Othmann is a 3rd liner. ( solid one ) trade him if people overpay.
Othmann has more potential than no ? he has no ceiling higher than 3rd line.

Also, chemistry is often so important.
Yeah, McD, MacK, and coupla others can play w/anyone and elevate any line -- their raw talent is that overwhelming.
But that is the exception not the rule.

Othmann seems to be lesser gifted scorer than LaF, but he is physical and will do well anywhere in the lineup.
Rs had a productive kid line
broke it up when LaF demonstrated enuf skating to work w/Tro + bread.

Kakko lost w/o both LaF + Chytil. Then Cuylle worked and now Brodz demonstrating to be a fit.

Oth I expect will do well with reasonable opportunity to have chem w/correct linemates.
If to ANA, no reason to suspect he is not a fit w/McTavish, Carlson, etc

Othmann + Berard + for Zegras + is fair and win win for both sides

It really isn't remotely close to fair or enticing for Anaheim at all. Othmann is a solid prospect but there's no way he's the best young player the Ducks could get for Zegras, who they have absolutely zero reason to move.

You are closer to a fair offer for renting Henrique than acquiring a young talent like Zegras, way off base on this one Bern.

What NyR need the most is forward depth. They have Wheeler and Chytil out for the season so they are very thin at forward right now.

Henrique and Vatrano make most sense. Vatrano can play either wing. Henrique can play wing or center. So those 2 would give them lots of options and they play a good playoff style of game.

Kreider - Zibanejad - Vatrano
Panarin - Trocheck- Lafrenierre
Cuylle - Henrique - Kakko
Edstrom - Brodzienski - Vesey
Goodrow/Rempe

Much better than what they have now. Depending on price it’s the right trade for them.

The video is basically saying
3C - RW that can play in the top 6, but doesn't necessarily have to be a top 6 type player. One that can maybe compliment or do the dirty work for their linemates. So it's understandable that the organizations top 2 prospects are not being thrown into deals for the majority of rentals, or players coming with 1 year left after this season.

They're obviously looking for players who can help jump their 5 on 5 play and be responsible in their own, helping reduce some of the time the team is caved in their zone. These players don't cost a 1st plus the teams top 2 prospect, especially a prospect some fans consider one of the draft steals.

So all these noises......but the Rangers current forward lineup 1. Panarin 2. Trocheck 3. Zibanejad 4. Kreider 5. Lafreniere 6. Kakko 7. Cuylle 8. Vesey 9. Brodzinski 10. Goodrow 11. Edstrom 12. Rempe---so if we're bringing in a C and an RW two of these guys are coming out of the lineup and all of them are playing well enough for the roles they're in. There are always complaints for sure this guy sucks, I don't like so and so, Goodrow is way overpaid etc. But the Rangers keep winning and are on a 10 game winning streak and the coach loves Brodzinski and is gushing over Edstrom and Rempe.....and he gushes over Cuylle too. Maybe we could use a scoring RW but IMO the Rangers should be careful about fixing something that's not broken.

I kind of like these kids Cuylle, Edstrom and Rempe because it's all banging bodies and jamming their way to the net which causes chaos for the other team and is a proven workable playoff strategy. Basically bruise and batter the other side into submission and your top players will do the rest. Kreider was bad enough for most teams just setting up in front as it is.....now we have so much extra.

The whole point of this is do we really need to be making big moves at the deadline? and I'm not convinced we are. Maybe a 5/6/7 stay at home D with size and some crunch in case we get into a war with a more physical team and need to pull out Gustafsson or if Lindgren gets hurt but that's pretty much what I'd be after now.

For the Ducks to package them together, I'd think the motivation would have to be quality rather than quantity. They'd be doing so to target a young player/prospect more coveted than the late first (+) that they could probably get for each player alone. They have so much prospect/pick depth, and need the high end talent.

So who is the young piece in the Rangers system, too valuable to give up for a pure rental Henrique in place of your late first, but perhaps able to part with when also getting Vatrano for an additional year? For the right return, that could also include retaining Vatrano down as low as 1,825,000 for next year.

we need a defenseman more than a forward but it doesn't seem to matter since the problem D won't come out

What now?
That maybe came out wrong. Othmann is a for sure NHL calibre player that has the tools to play 3rd line up, right now (I think he’s a good grinding, hard work 3rd liner, and maaaybe finds a home in the top6)

I wouldn’t hold him out of a trade, if the return put my team closer to winning a cup.

(I have similar thoughts with Cowan in Toronto, I don’t want him moved - but if the deal makes sense )
