This is worse than the Hall for Larsson deal.
Nylander is a total floater completely unlike hall andd sanheim is pretty much the opposite of Larsson. Sanheim took until last year to become a top pairing guy while Larson was sold high.

Your Worst Nightmare
Tanner Jeannot + Yakov Trenin + 2022 3rd for William Nylander + Pierre Engvall

Sign Evander Kane to a 3 year deal around Willy's cap hit.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kane - Tavares - Jeannot
Robertson - Kampf - XXX
Trenin - XXX - Simmonds

Leaf fans are constantly too worried about losing soft players that score points in exchange for physical players that compete… management seems to be on that boat for the most part too.

That’s why they can’t get out of round 1, weak minded goalies and soft skilled players

Any chance Toronto trades Nylander out for picks and fills his spot with UFA Evander Kane? It'll add some nasty to their forward corps.
Kane should never be considered in TO. They’d have to have a 24/7 security team following him, and a 24 hour hotline for fans to call if they see him doing something stupid.

As for Nylander, Vegas is going to make some deals this summer, as they can’t help themselves. I’d be on the phone right now trying to get Theodore in a deal giving up Nylander.

You just can’t have Giordano playing such an important role as he just finished up doing. It was a great effort from him but they need a guy in his prime playing such a big role.

Why would Vegas move Theodore?? Like I said, they’re going to make deals just to make deals and they’re going to want a winger like Nylander, on Eichel’s line. I wouldn’t move him but they have zero oatience.

Not sure what else goes to Vegas but it shouldn’t be anything crazy.

This thought/speculative rumor today, of moving Nylander to bring in a winger like Bertuzzi is a good idea. Just don’t think Detroit would want Nylander at that AAV. They’d probably turn around and move him if it was Bertuzzi for him.

If the Leafs can move Nylander for a 2/3 dman, and then grab Bertuzzi, they will have had a great offseason. Bertuzzi would’ve been a difference maker in the Tampa series. What they’d have to give? It won’t be cheap but I’m sure the Leafs could make it happen.

For what it’s worth, think Detroit moves Bertuzzi and Hronek at the draft, and Nylander’s days in TO are also done.

It was 5-0. The point is to get yourself ready for the next one, not get yourself injured.

Where have you been the past 6 seasons? Nylander doesn't chase that puck if it's in overtime, game 7 SC finals. He avoids more contact than a germaphobe.

So the answer to the problem, is to completely ignore it and invent another one and pretend he is a problem.
No the answer is to focus on something that is possible instead of a pipe dream. Tavares is UNMOVEABLE so why even worry about it.

Why would you guys want Kane? You know one bad penalty in the playoffs and you’ll be running him out of town anyways.

So the idea to solve a problem is to mask others as the problem and not address the real problem?

In what world is an 80point 7m player the issue...
Nylander isn’t the problem. Tavares and his contract are. Somebody else is likely going to have to be sacrificed because no one is clearing $11 million in cap for a 31 year old Tavares.

LA could be in on Nylander for one of our RHD+

they didn't lose because of the soft skill because the soft skill was not soft at all in the Tampa series.

They lost because Jack can't close a series

I was just looking over the Tavares contract and lmfao you're stuck with that behemoth. Can't even move him if you wanted to.

And if TB cruise to a 3rd Stanley Cup with the only resistance coming in the 1st round.,.what say you then?

That Tampa was just cruising around all year and used Toronto as a tune up for the real playoffs?

Also, why is this brought up, this thread isn't about that.

Leafs should definitely sign Kane to a long term, high cap, NMC contract though.
