Why are the Isles moving their best defenseman in a position of weakness for another winger? Value is off as well. And I’m a Rangers fan that likes Willy

Pelech is a top 5 shutdown defenseman in the league, but have fun losing in the first round again. Isles would never consider Pelech for Nylander.
I'd rather lose in round one than not make it. Also leafs would never consider moving nylander for a d man, they don't need.

This trade would not benefit both teams. Would destroy the isles defense. Pelech is the best shutdown defender in the NHL along with Slavin. Loosing Pelech would hurt the isles too much. Value might be fair but doesn’t make any sense for the isles. Pelech is arguably the isles best player. He’s certainly the most important

I’m all about Toronto running it back next year with the exact same team minus the middle six forward depth, Giordano and Campbell. Go for it. Bound to happen eventually, even with less talent on the ice.
Letting Campbell walk would be a mistake. He was excellent this series and it seems like his midseason struggles was really caused by his injury. I wouldn't be surprised if Gio resigns for cheap. He was a good team leader and mentor for Liljegren

Meh, winning one, two, or zero, it's not the cup.So it's all the same. Nice try tho!

While winning the cup is the key to the season and the ultimate goal, let’s not pretend winning a playoff series or 2 has no value. Pretty sure other teams fans would agree with me.

Seems like many Toronto fans a very salty now. And winning a round would have changed that….

This would be a dream come true. Pelech is awesome. If I was Lou, there is no way I consider this.

Counter: Mayfield + pick for Nylander

NYI only has one quality left shot D, Pelech is the definition of untouchable.

As much as I think Toronto rips off NYI getting Pelech, I think NYI rips off Toronto in your deal. Mayfield has shown he can be a good top 4 D, but after last season, I don't think his stock is as high as it once was. Also, his excellent contract is running out, and his next one will be a prime overpay situation.

That’s fair, my proposal wasn’t very serious. It was more of a tongue-in-cheek proposal after seeing the Pelech/Nylander suggestion when NYI has lost two top four LHD over the last two years and needs to add one, not subtract their only one…just a completely tone deaf proposal in my opinion and borderline insulting.

Getting back on a more serious note, I think NYI could be interested in Muzzin for a second pairing role if TOR was shopping him.

They wouldn’t pay much…maybe Bellows and a 2nd/3rd, but if TOR really wants cap space it may make some sense for them.

that's your opinion. Which is fine. I wouldn't trade Nylander for him because I believe nylander is better. That's my opinion. So I guess there is nothing left to discuss.
It's not about who's better, is it? It's about what you view better and more important to your team. If it's Pelech, then yeah, giving up who you might feel is a better player is really irrelevant. If it's Nylander, then obviously that's an easy decision not to make.

Borderline insulting? Damn man, I'm trying to defend Pelech here and you are making it hard. It's not an insulting offer, just ignorant of NYI's current situation. If NYI didn't have a hole at LD, it would be pretty fair value, although I still think Pelech is worth more.

I would trade Muzzin no question. I'd take the 2nd alone, tbh.
