Isles get decent cheap insurance with cup experience and is an easily dumped to the AHL contract if they really needed to do that.
Probably won't be a blow anyone away with his performace but will be a decent 6/7 on a playoff team. Lol might have been a regular 5 in Ottawa though.

Seidenberg to the Islanders and Quincey signing with the Devils yup the opening season must be getting close.

Not sure how facetious you were being, but

Quincey and Seindenberg dropping so quickly back to back may cause some knee jerks regarding Russell, Ehrhoff, and/or Jordan.
Maybe even Zidlicky...

Not good. This must mean Boychuk's injury is worse than first thought. I hope Seidenberg plays under 40 games.

Please tell me you're talking about the Bruins and not the Islanders, because they are neither of those things.

Nobody's expecting prime Seidenberg. I'm okay with having a guy at this stage of his career on the roster.

Good for you. Hope Seids will enjoy a good year.

That's one slow, bad defense corps

Leddy, De Haan... bad, slow?? Pulock too, if he makes it.

Hell, even Hamonic is a pretty good skater and he's so far from being a bad d-man. And that's ignoring Boychuk, who is obviously injured. I don't pretend to be an expert, but they're far from slow or bad. Hickey isn't a bad skater either. They lack a high end #1 d-man, but their supporting cast is fantastic.

Hamonic is a better skater than de Haan. de Haan might be more agile, but Hamonic is considerably faster.

Ouch. Didn't know Seidenberg was still unsigned, and didn't think he'd fallen that far.

He definitely had fallen off a bit, but I mean he seems like a still serviceable bottom pairing guy. But Boston has cap issues, and he's not worth the $4M they were paying him

Isles now with 4 Cup winners on their roster. I like that for the locker room.

This is basically a replacement for Zidlicky IMO, and it's an upgrade. Once injuries hit during the season, it will be great to lean on the solid depth.

Isles will make another roster move before the season starts.

Isles probably wanted to sign a #6-7 defenseman who fell through the cracks but wanted Seidenberg due to his WC performance.

Says more about Mayfield then about Boychuk I believe.

It does, but maybe he was holding out for a bigger contract/longer term deal and that just didn't end up panning out - so now he's stuck in this situation

I think it was Dreger or Lebrun that tweeted he just didn't feel like waiting anymore. There were ~8 teams interested, but all wanted to wait a bit (presumably to see what they had in the system at training camp) and the Islanders were the first to offer a contract it seems. I'm sure he could have held out and gotten a bit more.

No cap issues here. Issue was $4m vs his level of play which last year was bad.

Yep. It happens to at least one guy every year, but it's still a surprise when it happens.

He's still a decent bottom pairing D but injuries have taken their toll over the last couple seasons

Yeah, I suppose they must have. Still thought he'd get more.

That's why I'm happy. Good value.

You should be.

Really nothing can go wrong here.

Season starts in 2 weeks and most teams already have their spots filled already . Not much to choose from gotta take what you can get.

Certainly true, and it goes back to how this happens to a couple of guys every year. It's still just a little surprising to see a guy like him go for so little dollars AND such short term. If it weren't so surprising, we wouldn't really be having this discussion.
