Nah he was very questionable in Calgary, Kylington can pretty much do what he does so we didn't want him. I would rather have Guddy, just dont think he is worth 2M

I liked him and Kylington isn't going to do anything. Stone will get more minutes than him.

If Trotz and Co. can get him to play NHL level defense this could be a sneaky good signing. He’d definitely help our abysmal PP.

Wouldn't count on it. He makes freaking junior level defensive plays on a constant basis. You do NOT want him play a regular shift in the NHL other than PP and that's not what a contending team can afford.

I like Barry and Co. having the leverage to say: These are the mistakes you repeat. Here’s why you do them. Here’s what to do instead. Every time. Now stop making them and win an NHL roster spot.

Not a bad option for replacing Leddy for cheaps.

Will he be as good? Maybe.
Will he cost much? No.
Will he cost assets? No.
Will he take up a roster spot if signed? Yes.
Will he block any NHL-ready prospect? No.

All boxes checked.
Good job Lou.

Will he fit in Trotz system? No.

Will he figure out how to play in his own zone? No.

Will this post age well? No.

Will it be a mistake to give him an NHL roster spot? Yes.

Will he need Patrick Kane and PP time to rack up assists? Yes.

Will you strongly reconsider not putting Gus in the same sentence as Leddy? Please.

It's worth mentioning that NYI will likely have a rotation at LD involving Greene, and two of the following: Hickey, Gustafsson, the Swedish Sebastian Aho, Robin Salo, Mitch Vande Sompel (he's been hampered by injuries), Parker Wotherspoon (development seems to have stalled), and Samuel Bolduc. The consensus among NYI fans is that Bolduc has a lot of upside (he's big, an extremely good athlete, skates well, and has a bomb of s shot). Robin Salo is the most ready prospect, but this would be his first year in North America. This fight for these two spots is the training camp competition all NYI fans will be watching.

You Mad bro?

Pretty fun that some of you guys now got all this glory over Leddy - Weren’t you the ones telling everyone How much he sucked in Chicago, Islanders, he couldn’t play defense.

Quite amazing Leddy got better with Trotz.

Why don’t you name a better player for less than a million á year where you give up zero assets.
Someone that can pretty much fill Leddy’s role?

I could bring up facts like he has a 0,52 points per game average with a -4 rating over his 5 years in the league.
While Leddy having a 0.43 ppg with minus 30 over his NHL career.
The difference $-wise this coming season? Most likely 4,5 million, or more, money the re-signed playets for.

Taking all facts in to considerstion, is it really bad deal?

I guess your post will age like you will and mine will age like fine wine.

The Islanders have about half a season to see if someone sticks in the #2 LD slot between Gustaffsson, Salo, Bolduc and Aho. If none of them have taken the ball and run with it, I believe they target a rental LHD at the deadline regardless (Ekholm).

If Trotz can fix him on D this would be a good pickup. Guys just horrid in his own zone though. I can’t see a team as strong as Islanders system of play actually signing this guy.

He’s not good enough on the PP to be considered a PP specialist yet that’s the only place where he shows any type of value.

I'm not saying that Gus will be anything but a 7th D or maybe never get signed. I wish I had all the posts of when the Islanders lost Tavares and everyone and their Mother said we would finish with a bottom 5 record. Well we made the playoffs that 1st year and the ECF the following two seasons.
