Proposal: NYI/Edm deal built around Romanov+for Bouchard

We need a right handed Romanov

Our left side is
Ekholm
Nurse
Kulak

Left side is more than fine.
It’s not so much left vs right but more so the players play style itself. The Islanders have a very similar player in Dobson (as well as age) while Edmonton’s closest to Romanov is Ekholm. A guy like Romanov will do more for the Edmonton blueline vs a guy like Bouchard for the Isles, not counting just points. Romanov plays a very throwback style of defense that’s rarely seen anymore and he’s still relatively young.

it matters a lot to us. We have a weak right side and a strong left side. He'd be a 3LD on our team getting less minutes. He's not replacing Nurse or Ekholm in top 4.

Agreed, Dobson is a Bouch clone and no point in trading for him at all as you have a RHD offensive stud yourself.

Ther trade makes no sense for either team.

And if Romano plays a very throwback defense style on the Right side then we start talking but it still isn't for Bouch. Trading one right D for another right D is not helping us unless is Stecher/Emberson going for a legit Top 4 RHD and I don't see anyone making that deal.lol

Guys I want and will never get are Gudas and Larsson... it won't happen but that is what we need at 2RD.

Weird he's on pace for more than 30-40 even strength points this year alone and had 47 even strength points last year.

Why exactly does Edmonton need a Romanov?
Counter offer to the OP

Klinkberg and Stecher for Romanov

Make it happen

They get thier offense and another plucky defenseman as a added bonus !

I love all the Isles fans scoffing at Bouchard. He's a PPG defenseman in the playoffs. He has more points in the playoffs than any of our top forwards in way less games. True he's playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, but that's not a constant... and if you look up the numbers, Draisaitl has actually been much better with Bouchard on the ice, not the other way around.

Problem is, we have 3 RHD under team control for a long time. a deal between us would probably be around Dobson and have some small add from us... just doesn't feel like the two teams line up.

Yay, 2 useless pieces for 1 useful one. The offers we all love from the Leafs.
Wait so Klingberg is useless but how useless would Romanov be to the Oilers if Bouchard leaves ?

Isles can keep this redundant 20 point defenseman. We already have a few good defensive dmen in our organization.

Klingberg and Stetcher are useless pieces for the Isles and they do nothing except downgrade the roster. It’s like offering Hudson Fasching and Dennis Cholowski for Evan Bouchard.

Klingberg on his worse day is better than the garbage you mentioned. See how this works ? Its insulting to offee Romanov for Bouchard. 😆

The offer is bad on paper but if it’s looked at deeper and left vs right shot is ignored, it’s closer then you’d think for reasons I explained above. Obviously if Nurse (or Kulak) is moved out and Romanov takes his place while playing the way he has for the Isles, it’s a solid upgrade for Edmonton. Bouchard while being an offensive wizard is very similar in play style to Dobson. OP isn’t an Islanders fan making the post nor does either team even think about this offer one bit. Oh and Klingberg is a #7 at this point who most teams wouldn’t use on a nightly basis outside of injuries/giving someone a night off.

Bouchard even with having an off year is still at 40 + points and over +20. He set playoff records approaching Paul fn Coffeys records as a 24 year old. There is no world where the Oilers trade Bouchard unless the opposing team overpays.

Sorry guy

Oilers fan offered this, Islanders is not looking to trade for Bouchard. Weird offer anyway.

No offense to anyone here but this entire thread is silly. That’s a harmless word that I came up with rather than revealing how I truly feel.

Romo is easily not the most talented player on the Isles but he’s one of the very few untouchables on this squad for all the reasons others here would like to see him on their squads.

this is awful value for Edmonton and meets zero needs since we have a strong left side and a weak right side. How does trading our best RD for another LD help Edmonton in any way?

As much as I'd love for this to work for NYI it just doesn't. We need Horvat and have pretty thin C depth behind him, especially with Nelson 50/50 to leave
And from Edmonton's POV:

"let's trade Bouchard for cap reasons"
*trades Bouchard for $14 million dollars in salaries*

Bouchard for Dobson (!)
Downgrade for Edmonton. Don't see the point.
