the average Low danger shot goes in 5 times less than the average High danger shot.

Larsson was one of the 10 Best HD shot Dmen.
and
the best EV/PK GA D in the game the last 2 years.

since 94% of the top goal scorers in the game are Forwards.

I want my d to get the forwards the puck.
and
not abandon defence of HD area chasing goals they are not above average at getting.

Elite D.
Face 1st comp
top 40 EVA/60
Top 40 HD HSA/60
top 40 EVGA/60
Top 40 PKGA/60

Larsson 1st comp
top 40 EVA/60
top 10 HD HSA/60
#1 EVGA/60
Top 15 PKGA/60

I look forward to the game Tommorow!

What obscure advanced statistics are these?

And if he was that good, he would have never been traded.

Leddy faces the same level of competition on a nightly basis, is a far better skater and puck moved and is just as good one on one and positionally, if not better.

I'm a Ranger fan, dude. Nice game on Thursday though. ;)

Yeah, you have no idea what you're talking about.

I don't think that Eberle has much value but there's no freaking way that I touch that Boychuk contract so hard pass on that one. I'd like to get Pulock but I don't think Eberle gets it done.

Yeah, I actually do. I've watched a lot more of him than you have throughout his years in Jersey.

The guy isn't as good as you make him to be just because your team's general manager was stupid enough to trade Hall for him. He's a decent 2nd pairing defenseman than gets talked about as a top pairing guy because he's played on two dumpster fire defense corps.

In Jersey, they have a great system. It's proven because they stay out of the cellar with the same piss poor roster and Corey Schneider. Now McLellan is imploring the same system he used in San Jose and Talbot is playing better this year than the last.

He's overrated.

First, in regards to those stats, none of the rest of us Oiler fans know either I don't think (please don't judge all of us because of one guy posting random crap nobody understands).

Next, regarding Leddy vs. Larsson, I haven't watched enough of Leddy to know how good he is, but I've been really happy with Larsson so far. His offense is mostly non-existent, but he rarely makes a mistake in his own zone, and scoring chances against are a rarity when he's on the ice (the Rangers game was an exception to that for some reason).

On the actual discussion topic, even if he was willing to waive his NMC, I want nothing to do with Boychuk's contract, especially at the cost of Eberle.

I've been on these board for over 10 years, I know not to paint fanbases with a broad brush, although there are some fanbases on here (not going into specifics - no one heavily involved in this thread) that are notorious for garbage offers in the trade threads.

Nick Leddy is the real deal. The Islanders defense corps would be awful without him. This coming from a Ranger fan.

He's one of the smoothest skating defenseman in the entire league and is incredible at moving the puck out of trouble situations even when being harassed by forecheckers. Ever since he's come to the Islanders he's responded tremendously to the increase in responsibility and ice time.

I thought his positional play would really be the area that he would suffer in as I watched him in Chicago and it was lackluster, but he's improved there. One-on-One play was never too much of a problem as he has great lateral movement.

On the actual discussion topic, even if he was willing to waive his NMC, I want nothing to do with Boychuk's contract, especially at the cost of Eberle.

Don't blame you, horrible for the Oilers. Age to be brought into consideration as well, Boychuk isn't young and the type of defenseman that he is (not saying him specifically) is being phased out of today's NHL in favor of more mobile two-way defenders.

I wouldn't give up Eberle for that.

Not only have I never seen those stats used before, but he didn't even bother to explain them or how they work.

He could have made up something or pulled it out of his ass for all I know.

Update: I would still do this even if Boychuk has to have one of his feet sawed off after tonight.

Seriously, though, even with Eberle's flaws, I have to think he'd be a better fit for Tavares' wing than Andrew freakin' Ladd. Just give us one of your RD and we'll call it a day.

At a cap hit of $6M/year until he's 38? Why?

Would Isles fans have done Eberle for Boychuk in the summer? Or is it only because of the recent scoring woes?

eberle will be moved as soon as Pulju is ready for top line minutes. It definitely won't be for boychuk. I'd rather take prospect/picks than handcuff the team with that contract.

Would Isles fans have done Eberle for Boychuk in the summer? Or is it only because of the recent scoring woes?

Last year during the whole drama there was definitely Islander fans going "we don't want to give up Hamonic for Eberle, but an Eberle-for-Boychuk swap could help both of us" but they were silenced out by the cries that Edmonton would not lose a single shred of value trading Hall/RNH/Eberle for a defenseman and that Chia could easily find 12-15 defenseman better than Boychuk if he made Eberle available. So the proposal was never really pursued.
