I will have to check when I get home, your news of a possible fix to HFBoards is encouraging...Here is my recent experience..
- Sunday, all desktop and laptop access was blocked by HF boards to me (a venerable Mac M1 on the ubiquitous Chrome browser)... feck this!
- simultaneously, a fresh iteration upload of Chrome browser kicked out my favourite ad blocker (Ublock Origin). Tried Chrome iterations, two different laptops, clearing all history and cookies associated with this site, refresh, blah blah blah, Mozilla Firefox, etc.. to no avail. I am no IT guru, so went through denial, anger, more denial, bargaining, fleeting depression, bouyant acceptance.
- At that point, only my phone had access to HF boards.
- @Jets 31, @Gm0ney, @Moloch, @bustamente, @buggs and @10Ducky10 chipped in with advice, went with new extension to block ads eg, Ublock Origin Lite (thanks to @bustamente ).
- this extension completely solved my ad infestation issue, but I could only log in to the main HF Boards page.
- wrote a complaint to the Tech help section of the main board, explained the problem, they informed me that they will help me.
- Tuesday AM, everything works. So far.

I didn't read that article and I won't read that article. I am not one of the people that complain about losing defenseman on waivers either. You're right though he is easy to criticize because there are reasons. From what I hear he isn't playing tonight so that is good and I'm going to stop complaining about him for the rest of the day.

Looking forward to seeing Fleury and Schenn together tonight. Has there ever been a time we had 2 former top 10 picks on the same pairing for a game? I sure can't think of it. Not that they are that level of players at this point, but I have a good feeling about that pair. Replacing Stanley's toughness, with an even tougher player in Schenn and a better skater with Fleury. I like that Arniel doesn't seem so set in his lineup that he isn't open to a bigger range of options.

Stanley isn't an NHL defenseman
It seems like there's no room to say even one thing positive about a hated player or even try to be objective about it. You either have seething hate for the guy and he's the worst human to ever put on skates or you love him and your his biggest defender or cheerleader.
I prefer to try and look at it as objectively as possible.
- Is Stan a bottom pair/ tweener defenseman? Yes
- Should he be scratched based on his recent play? Yes
- Is he of similar quality to other bottom pair/ 7th D on other NHL clubs (shockingly, even others on this team)? Yes
- Does he do some things well and have good runs of play? Yes
All of these things can be true, if you try to look at it in an unbiased way.
I was just commenting on the explosive nature of any Stanley discussion. He gets mentioned and then BOOM!

I said Arniel will START losing the room if he played Stanley after 2 bad outing and he is not benched.
You have to treat everyone the same ... if you bench one of your bottom players for a bad outing you have to do it to the rest.
As you can see by Armiel's decision today Stanley is not getting any special treatment.

In case people wonder why I "stick up" for Stanley...
It's simple. I view the amount of vitriol the guy gets as unfair. It's not his fault the Jets drafted him. It's not his fault he's in the line up. It's not his fault that he's not as good as other players
By all accounts, he works his ass off in the off season. He's well liked in the room and has a great attitude. He goes out and plays to the best of his limited abilities and sticks up for teammates when needed (even though, as has been noted, he's not very good at that either)
Yet he puts up with an irrational amount of abuse. Fans rip him here and on social media. He's booed at Jets games. One poster here suggested kneecapping him after last game
People like Murat and Garrett (both beer league goalies IIRC) rip on him incessantly despite never achieving what he has in the sport
So at the end of the day, I'm a Jets fan. I cheer for the Jets. He's a Jet, therefore I cheer for him even when he f***s up - just like every other Jet. I see that's lost on most of you, so go ahead and get off together in your "Hatred For Stanley Circle Jerk"... but I'll pass

I feel obligated to jump into the Stanley discussion just cuz everyone is doing it. The above seems about right, minus, to a degree, the Garrett article. I'm not sure the article contributes that much to the issue, it's a long time ago. I'm sure I read it, but I certainly don't recall it. If Garret panned the pick, he's hardly alone especially outside of Winnipeg and its fans.
That said, Stanley is an NHL defenseman. A bottom pairing, 6-7, if you will. Every team has those, we've traded or picked up numerous off waivers over the years. We've also cut bait with many of them over that time (the Chisolm part of the post above I deleted is a great example).
The Jets traded up to draft Stanley in the first round based on size, seemingly in hopes of him turning into the next Chara (someone should explain probability to the scouting crew). The Jets subsequently have given a guy who is 6'7" so much rope you could run it lengthwise from here to Calgary while not giving it to other players that may well be better (cough*Kovacevic*cough). Opportunity after opportunity has been granted him while others haven't seen the same generosity. We're nearly 9 years into this experiment and Stanley is what he is.
I think the frustration is more from how much effort has gone into a talent that was very unlikely to meet expectations than anything else (his skating and mobility have always been subpar, one of the key factors in rating prospects - to this day his agility reminds me of mine). If, as you say, he was 6'2 I'm guessing he would have been traded/waived years ago. Retaining and providing so much opportunity to what is a easily replaceable asset likely drives all the angst.

But Stanley sucks. I kid, i kid. Honestly if "we" didn't bitch about Stanley there isn't anything to bitch about with the season we are having.

this is a sports forum. It's not really your job to protect players from "unfair" vitriol. And I missed the part where fans were required to be NHL players before they could be critical of lineup decisions or coaching decisions or drafting decisions or contract decisions or any of the other stuff fans like to bitch about wrt their favorite sports teams. There's been lots of occasions over the years where there's been debates about players...Pavelec, Kane, Buff, on and on. In many of those situations, the criticisms turned out to be valid. Pavelec for instance - there were debates very much like this in which a lot of people - me included - felt he was terrible - while others never gave up defending him...sometimes based on nothing more than he "seemed like a good guy." It's the nature of the game. Sometimes the people complaining about something have a valid point...
Well one thing is for sure, in no way will Arniel lose the room at this point. This team has bought in and will follow their coach wherever he takes them. There can be no questions on this or about this and I trust the team leadership to maintain this.

Yeah you'd think right? But, as far as I can tell coaches don't lose the room until losing games becomes an issue. Then, after a period of time where a whole bunch of games are lost and the team looks like crap we start talking about coaches losing rooms. It's a bit of a chicken/egg situation mostly.
