Getting real tired of this feel good narrative being preached about Smith.

POS signed a huge contract and completely slacked off, and his game has fallen off a cliff. But he started hustling every shift like he should have been doing already, so let’s shower him with praise.

He's played well this year. I don't care what anybody says.

How bad do the Pens really need the game, though?

Win and you play a hot, hungry Islanders team coached by the guy who solved your puzzle last year.

Lose and you play a Washington team you've eliminated 19 times.

I take the islanders on no doubt I don’t care if they have Scotty bowman in his prime. Plus if isles lose and they win they have home ice

Yeah, he's been one of, if not our best fourth liner, and he was solid on D for most of his time there.

That doesn't excuse coming into camp out of shape last year, and he hasn't earned his pay. But in the roles he's played this year, he's been good.

He’s demonstrated he’s a competent fourth line forward. We’re paying him money to be a middle pairing defenseman and he can’t even earn a spot on our revolving door of a D core.

And his inability to earn a spot is entirely his fault, that’s the best part. It’s not injury, getting older, etc. He blew it.

What can't you understand about players being not wanting to lose intentionally. It's not in their DNA. You have been wishing they lost for 82 games now. Stop fing whining.
I have and I won’t stop because it’s whats best in the long term and I completely understand everything u have bitched about all 82 games... u just seem to put pride before honest assements and cerebral contemplation. Sometimes u lose the battle to win the war... but if all u do is play checkers I’m sure chess seems boring and mundane.

He brings this up once a week.

Except for last year, which is the most relevant one

Staal scoring would be the ultimate knife in the back.

All the big games he's played, and all the times he could have helped us, and all the times he's hurt us by sucking in those games, he can't be good now.

Yeah, but the guy who coached that team is coaching the Islanders.

I'm sure the Pens are going to try and win and would like the higher seed, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they "need" this game.

Yes, last year was on him and a disaster for the guy but this year he came to camp in shape and ready to play. He may not be worth 4 mil a year but he's still been good in his role.

The thing with Strome is he seldom makes mistakes
