Batherson has one of the best bargain contracts in the league. If Peterka wants out and/or Buffalo's owner wants to save dollars vs JJ's next deal - Batherson is a sensible return IMO.
If JJ doesn't want out, and/or the owner isn't being cheap - then Buffalo should just pay JJ though.

Getting Samuelsson away from Wilford's "coaching" might do a lot for him. He knows Peca from their time in Rochester, might be someone who thinks Sammy can get back to what he once projected as rather than the husk he's been this year.

I would trade laf before I traded Cuyle. He a must combing into to his own as a power forward something Rangers lack. We don’t want to get softer than we already are. Laf will never be a point a game player here

k'andre is rfa with arbitration. schnieder has another year at $1.6m less than miller makes now and probably half as much as miller or byram would get as a qualifying offer or in arbitration this summer.
They are different players that play a completely different game. Cuylle does a lot of things that Peterka doesnt.
Im not saying they are the same value but Cuylle is a lot more valuable to the Rangers than what he would get in a trade. A big 2 way forward that plays a strong defensive game and hits like a train.

Which is fine but it wont happen as the Rangers want to get more physical and tougher. Trading Cuylle goes against that.
I would wait until the summer to make this trade and see what can be done. Free agency could have a massive impact on who Rangers are willing to part with.

Staple isn’t plugged into the Rangers one bit. Like literally at all.
I think Rantanen/Marchand/Boeser are going to clog up the market for Rakell too much, unless he truly is someone's preferred option. If they end up staying put, maybe we can take someone to the cleaner in the waning minutes.
