Nurse DoPS hearing for cross checking Quinton Byfield - suspended 1 game (Mod Warning Post #136)

Nurse reacted properly to Byfield taking a whack at the puck at the goalie's pads. Problem is he then sat there, took a beat to think about it, and then delivered the cross check to the back of the head.

Byfield isn't a threat to score or do anything at that point. Play is over. Complete definition of a non-hockey play from a guy with a suspension history. This isn't hard.

I am far from the guy calling for suspensions and wish this was still the 90s, but this play coupled with his history is pretty automatic. Only going to hurt his wallet though if it is one game and the league will be rewarding the idea of injuring a key player of an upcoming playoff opponent six days prior to Game 1.

I'm not complaining about the initial takedown, but pretty funny to read the Oiler fan on here saying that it is exactly what Byfield did to Perry earlier in the game when all Byfield did was put him in a headlock after Perry slashed Fiala's wrists. Byfield didn't even try to take him to the ice. Byfield is a giant p***y when it comes to this stuff.

They literally have nothing to play for. They are in 2nd, can't get to first and know who their first round opponent is. Even IF he was perfectly fine I'd sit him anyway just in case there was any kind of lingering effects. I personally like the rough side of hockey but in clean physical play, not what Nurse did. You only do that kind of stuff if a guys does stuff like that and doesn't answer for it.

If he has a concussion, it will be several days before he can come back. There are steps he must pass. Each step passed requires 24 before the next step can be assessed.
