It wasn’t pretty for the most part…. Looked like both teams were down on energy… canucks especially looked gassed… very choppy and start stop with frantic icings etc.

Have to stay diligent as would be quick blips of craziness in between the blah…

The officials drove me nuts in this game more so than any other I attended this year. The linesmen were being a bunch of power trippin annoyances taking forever to drop the puck and blowing it dead and re dropping more times than I can remember other games if the didn’t like how it turned out. Swallowed whistles a lot of the night and then called margina, stuff. Wasn’t a good night for the officials.

Loved the Svech move. That’s what we want to see from him.

Good teams find a way to push through when it’s not the best night and still get the points, this game won’t matter in May and June except if it helped secure more home ice for us or a better playoff seeding,

love leaving the arena after a win. Our streak of attending home wins continues…

Alright so I missed the 2nd and 3rd period because the power went out. But between the 1st period I did see and the 2nd goal I watched on replay later… it does seem like Svech has been turning it on lately.

That goal is a microcosm of how we need Svech thinking and playing offensively and hopefully it’s a sign of increasing confidence.

I haven't been able to watch games lately. Did someone hang logos to the top corners like I suggested? Good for him anyway. He is a workhorse, it's nice see him get some carrots for it.

He seems inspired by Svech and vice versa - I wonder if a heart-to-heart took place.

Svech looks more engaged, and is doing both the strength and skill game at the same time like a true power forward instead of alternating trying to play purely like Martinook and then over correcting and trying to play purely like Necas.

Staal looks more creative, looking for actual common sense plays to be made off the cycle instead of that line always aiming for the Guinness World Record for longest offensive zone cycle without achieving anything.

Maybe a breakthrough has been achieved. Or maybe, you know, two good games. I don’t know.

Who would be next in line for a call up if he can’t go Sunday and carrier isn’t back? I’m guessing Suzuki or maybe Gunler?
If they once again go with an option that might play our style well and might be a more direct fit for the bottom 6, I wonder about Josiah Slavin. Seems pretty smart and responsible when I watch him play.

Could see that. Wonder if Robidas would get a look he’s been playing well

The best part about Svech playing on Staal’s line is he is playing the right side. All the best Russian wings play their offside (because thats how they were taught) and who knows why they refuse to use him that way consistently.

Generally-speaking, coaches who prefer playing guys on their strong-side do it because it makes a stronger two-way unit.

Don’t want Martinook out for any length of time. If he is out for a while, Chicago candidates for call up LW:
Suzuki-plays C but shoots left
Nadeau-shoots right but playing LW in Chicago
Slavin-shoots right but plays LW
Robias-playing C and shoots Right
FUS-shoots right and plays RW/C

I suspect team would move Jaaska up to Staal’s line and bring up one of the above for 4th line.

Fortunately, team has a lot of 3rd/4th line guys in the system.

It's not as if we have much invested in him :sarcasm:
