Alex Ovechkin with yet another game puck after tonight's big effort.

Honorable mentions go to Logan Thompson, Dylan Strome, Connor McMichael, and Rasmus Sandin.

Sorry to bother. I don't get to watch many games between work schedule and finances sucking so can someone give me the over arching opinion on whether PLD has been worth it so far?
I like the effort and work rate from PLD. Back checking etc. I think he's been a bit unlucky with scoring so far. 1 goal on 22 shots for a 4.5 percentage.

My concern with him is whether he'll sustain the effort level for the entire season. I think previous comments about him have mentioned that his effort level falls away if he doesn't get the results. Sure hope that doesn't happen

I like Ovie and I like this team. Come from behind win Braylen’s a good Nash team. Yes they are off to a slow start, but they are talented and will be in the playoffs by the end of the year

Also props to Logan Thompson - he had no chance on either of those Preds goals.

What's the general view on him vs Charlie Lindgren? I think LT is the better goalie, but Charlie has that underdog / fighting quality thing going for him.

The best thing is we haven't really needed Shesterkin level goaltending because our team has speed, confidence, and can score goals. Never thought I'd be saying this in the 24-25 season. It's just been an amazing start

Weird game. Realistically they should have put this game to bed in 1st period, piercing NSH 10-2 in high-danger chances but Saros was good. 2nd period was rather even and Thompson was really good in the 3rd when the Caps needed him to be. NSH had 1-6 high-danger advantage in the 3rd.

Good win. Yet another game where the Caps had over 4 5-on-5 xGF (4.12) and over 5 overall xGF (5.37). Offense keeps on rolling.

I think previous comments about him have mentioned that his effort level falls away if he doesn't get the results.

I don't think it's that linear though. So the question is whether "the results" are just his personal boxcars or if it includes the fact that he's contributing mightily to a line that's scoring plenty for a team that's winning.

In other words, I think he's most likely getting the results that matter most to him. We've all got that part of us that want to personally succeed as well, but I think he's more than likely satisfied with how things are going. He's playing very well.

Such a difference from last year where the team really struggled with scoring and if they let in 3 or more it was a certain loss.

I don't think LT has been better than Lindgren by much if at all but his record is 6-0 while Lindgren's is 3-3.

Bad luck.

Is it just me or does Ovechkin also look like he’s having fun again. Maybe he was not a Lavi fan or being on a mediocre team made it hard to fully buy in at his age. But I feel like this team and coaching staff has reenergized him.

I maintain he was hurt for the first half of last year... hard to smile when you're playing through pain. Was probably hurt going into camp/opener last year, is my guess. He's healthy now, enjoying the game again and the success shows on his face. Love to see it.

At his career pace of .598 Goals per game, he needs 56/57 more games. Hard to predict if he'll stay hot, stay healthy, but beating 99's record is easily within reach this season. Even still with some regression from his career average. If he stays this hot, mid March or a little sooner.
