Healthy Ross Colton at the deadline is better than 2 3rds. Maybe the sign him to an extension maybe they trade him?

Interesting move for CMac. If he’d hung around, he’d be trading Colton way, bit the Avs and Preds are in different spots. Avs get cap space and the Preds get a not-old guy that could realistically bounce back and contribute.

He is, plus as mentioned his relationship with the Avs was tumultuous at times.

His 2025 exit interview was…rough to say the least.

Colton is easily a mid 6er. (don't play him at center if you can help it)
When he's with the right guys, he's can score, he just is so streaky
When he goes cold and gets moved down the lineup, he struggles to get hot enough to move back up

Colton is one of those guys who looks terrible in the Avs system but consistently puts up Hall of famer level possession stats.

Nashville is getting a steal here. As their GM knows.

That you consider Colton a "bottom 6er" says more about your perception than his ability. The GM that acquired him paid him $4 M in Colorado for a reason.

He slotted in at 2LW earlier in the season and looked good, but he got injured and wasn’t the same when he came back. He’s too inconsistent to be a long term option in the top 6 IMO and not particularly good at special teams. He could probably be a top 6 on a rebuilding team but for a team with playoff aspirations he’s best suited for a 3rd line energy role that can be good offensively during his hot streaks.

A middle six forward at the tail end of his prime making $4MM on a one year deal is a contract that's not negative value. Colton can skate, can hit, goes on odd scoring heaters at times and he's pretty durable.

I didn't think it was worth 2 3rds, but what are two 3rd round picks really worth? Probably not much to GMs.

Didn’t Chrona just sign in the SHL?

Yes Chrona signed a 2 year contract with Brynas on May 19th, 2026.

It’s possible Magnus could have an NHL out clause in his SHL May 19th agreement, if he signs a new NHL contract with Colorado perhaps on a 2-way deal.
