Haven't read most of this thread so I don't know how everybody else saw it ....... but - I thought Jets actually played pretty well, not great but still pretty well. Thing is that Helle was human. And Dallas looked very good. Heiskanen is a difference maker already. They'll be even better when they get Klingberg back.

Q. Is it just me, or is Sbisa getting better with each game? Its not just the goal, I had this thought in the first.

Poolman is a massive liability playing 1st pair minutes. There is no way you make that pass especially given the circumstances. Laine thought he was going deep behind the net, as he should have. And this was all night long......very poor decision making. I actually like Poolman, but he still needs to be sheltered.

Still I think Laine should have got that puck. Maybe you can't catch 10 out of 10 of those perfectly, without any bounce, but I'd say Laine should catch like 9 out of 10 of those passes.

Unfortunate, unlucky event after many lucky ones, including that chest goal by Laine.

Lol 'chest goal' Laine looked so surprised, then kind of embarrassed when he went to the bench for the high fives.

Jets were OK, Dallas was just so good.

Who needs Klingberg when you have Heiskanen playing *that* level. He was like a sum of the best attributes of Pionk, Morrissey and Heinola in one game. I am not sure how CSL managed to have some counterplay against Heiskanen.

On his last season in FEL (he played one "extra" year in Finland), Heiskanen was just unfair to play against. Occasionally he looks like that on NHL too. I was watching the Dallas TV stream (I guess it was Fox Sport) and man they were drooling at Heiskanen's play, and I am not calling them even homers.

It's definitely not a shame to lose against Dallas now. Onwards and upwards.

Not just you. I think he's been very solid. A bit on the slow side but I don't mind him at all.

This is just one of many games where teams are targeting our stars with relative impunity this year.

Very true - and that looked like a high hit from where I was sitting.

If it had happened earlier in the game, we might have addressed it through Lowry -
But that late after going down a goal, it wasn't going to happen.

As for who was on the ice at the time of the hit, none of those guys have that grit.

I thought he was seriously bad his first 5-6 games. But he only played a total of 9 games last year and 30 the year before. I guess we shouldn't be surprised if it took him a few games to get up to speed.

Yes a bit slow, but we have had slower. Saying I don't mind him may be damning him with faint praise but it is better than wanting to see him shot into the Sun.

Sbisa: 2 points in 11 games
Trouba: 1 point in his past 13 games
Myers: 1 point in his past 17 games

And Sa-Beast-ah doesn’t get any PP time!

OK, besides that silly comparison, Sbisa is doing much better than expected. Geez, I get so stressed when people go nuts on new players like Beast and Plinko and then they turn out to be fine.

Maybe we should give Chevy the benefit of the doubt until we see these guys play for awhile.

Didn’t read thread probably all over the place.
The game was fun until Benn wrecked it.
Helle was very good.
The puck bounced like a Super ball if your old enough to remember those.
Good road trip results wise.

He's better than Kulikov, by my eye test.

Just watch how completely ineffective Kuli is out there. It's amazing.

* Up to Sbisa speed.

I mean, he's not as extravagantly terrible as Kuli is managing to be now, game in and game out, but his game is so simple that it's essentially moving back and forth in a small window of ice and not screwing it up on every shift -- except when he has to, say, clear the zone without banging it round the boards to an opposition player or clearing it to no one in particular to kill a transition.

So maybe he's getting better, from from a baseline that's well below replacement. I feel like they could cycle him and Pomme de Terre in and out of each other's uniform and no would be the wiser (maybe not even them), though I guess one would hit more and one would do that standing around in the corner looking back and forth along the boards while waiting for a clue thing more. Wouldn't work with Dahlers cause he's a bit taller.

But yes, he gets on and off the ice without falling over, and he's not delivering pizzas with every movement of his stick, and he's adding "physicality," although it isn't obvious how helpful that is, exactly, when every 5th post in a GDT/PGT complains that we're being headhunted and injured and out crease-cleared and out-gritted by every team who isn't us. And he's allowing Niku to benefit hugely from ""touching the puck" or "doing ever so well" or whatever the hell he's supposed to be learning as he sleepwalks through the AHL for another X number of games.

So that's all good I guess.

I think Kuli was better last year than he has been so far this year. Feeling the pressure?

Tha Stars vs Jets is fun matchup. It was all going well until Benn leveled Chef with an illegal hit a moment before scoring the winning goal. Poolman made the wrong decision to pass the puck to Laine in that moment, even icing it would have been better. The puck was bouncing all night and the ice seemed bad judging from the poor puck control that was on display the whole game. I’m not mad at Benn for what he did, I would love to have a leader like that on the Jets. It’s going to be a long season for our banged up stars unless they start to make teams pay for stuff like that.

Why was the pass a bad decision and why was icing the puck a better one.
I may have missed something on that play - but it looked like a good pass that wasn't handled well.

Panic pass panicked reaction makes panicked poke check
That’s hockey

I didn't see any panic in that pass - it was well executed and Laine had time to make a play.

These guys are pro's and that pass was routine.
I might buy this take if Laine was tied up in knots and unable to take the pass - but he wasn't.

Tough break and things like this happen - but to point out Poolman as the guy that caused that turnover?
According to the poster I was responding to, he should have iced it?
Don't buy any of that for even a minute.
Wow

Where did I say that Poolman caused the turnover? I think that was mostly Laine’s fault.

My point was that Poolman made the wrong decision in that situation. Chef had just been leveled and Poolman should have been calmer with the puck and taken his time to evaluate the situation on the ice, when they were in the final minutes of regulation.

In sports, unfortunate decisions, mistakes and bad bounces happen. You can’t do anything about the bounces, but mistakes and bad decisions can be worked on and require experience. Experience that comes from making those mistakes. This whole season will be one long lesson for Poolman, if he stays up. The Jets are in desperate need of a calming presence on defense. Having a Buff or Trouba in the final minutes of a game line that would have made all the difference.
