Wrong. There can be more than one cause.

1. More Money.

2. Being home, his home country, with family, friends!

3. Devils are a bigger internal mess than he wanted to deal with.

I doubt if a Saudi prince offered him $25M per he would be in Dubai. But you guys are right, Kovy evil, Kovy bad. Kovy owes us.

Reality is Kovy doesn't owe anyone jack as much as we would like to believe it and in regard to himself and those closest to him, he probably made the best decision. Doesn't matter if we hate it.

Add another 500 reasons why he should leave.

Does that change the fact that he didn't consider those reasons 2 years ago and signed a long term contract that basically waived those reasons?

If this was the best decision for him, why not make it 2 years ago when he was absolutely contractually free to do so.. was his family not in Russia then too?

absolute joke that you somehow let the Devils financial situation serve as an excuse for Kovy here. No matter why he left.. he LEFT UNDER CONTRACT.

Not specifically. Just gets annoying that par of our fanbase always hates the other half that don't look at everything thru rose-colored glasses and face reality.

Also this guy makes a point:

It's more annoying when people get on their high horse and take the side of a player walking out on a deal for more money when the wound's still fresh. You want to take Kovy's side six months later, be my guest. Nobody wants to hear this crap now IMO.

Boring when an OP just wants to keep a thread going.

And the Kovalchuk topic regarding the Devils' financial woes is overdone at this point. :deadhorse:

Is it possible it partially contributed to his leaving? Sure, but that's 100% pure speculation at this point, and not something that couldn't just be discussed in the regular "Kovalchuk the Quitter" thread.

back to waiting for Kosman's spin on Kovy leaving :sarcasm:

Saw the quote, from his MOM, who helped him decide. Thought this was a good place to put it. When your star player leaves and his mother cites team ownership and finances are part of the reason, maybe we should discuss it right?

The only speculation in here is the crap everyone is making up along with the 3000 reporters. The woman who gave birth to Kovy and helped him decided before Kovy called Lou gives us some insight and we piss all over it because its not what we want to hear. Awesome!

Kovy's mom is suddenly Abe Lincoln. She cannot tell a lie!

So are we done now...finally?

EDIT : Guess not. He is still at it one post above me. *sigh*

Thought we could discuss this instead of having a WWF match with everyone calling everyone else a moron.

Sorta hard to have a discussion when one poster is completely unwilling to even read the others' posts, yet alone acknowledge the points within them.

Basically talking to a mirror

What does the "World Wildlife Fund" have to do with anything? POOR ANIMALS! :sarcasm:

But points to DevilCHARLES for pointing out the obvious.

This thread has run its course at least until we find out if the Devils have a new owner yet or not....

I'll give you that. Personally thought it might be worth discussing.

Of course 10 people gang up on me Bc our team has never made a wrong move not been in financial trouble

I only found Momma Kovy's interview interesting, wanted to share and get feedback, that's all. I personally think it gives us a little insight as to what might be going on, but hey that's just me.

No, I didn't say 'Abe Lincoln', I said 'Hey Blinkin.'

I mean, at least he gives a crap about putting a good product on the ice. Look at other teams around the league. There are owners like Wang who want to spend the bare minimum amount of money when putting a roster together. The Isle had their best season in forever last year and he doesn't want to take advantage of the possibility of players wanting to play with Tavares.

So yeah, when the people calling for Vanderbeek's head can honestly tell me they'd rather have a clown like Wang running the team, then I'll start respecting that thought. Vanderbeek's partner who put up half the funds for the team basically walked out on him, and he sacked up and funded the whole team on his own tab. He basically had to double his investment instantly, and STILL we're near the salary cap every year.

I think JVB has been good for the franchise, and I hope he is able to hang in there as majority owner. The fact that he has had to scratch and claw to dig up $$$ from time to time speaks to how much he has laid on the line in an attempt to put this franchise on more stable ground.

And I much prefer the team in Newark so that is a big plus as well.

You guys talking about JVB do realize that he's likely not bankrupt himself.. probably set aside a certain amount of funds for the Devils and they are now at the max limit. I highly doubt he has no money left, just more likely he doesn't want to put any more into the Devils as he already has.

totally agree, this has been my mindset all along. Good luck JVB!

So JVB is getting out of the whole thing? I wouldn't be against that.

I think he wants to stay on as a minority owner. There was an article about it right before the draft. How some guy from South Jersey is trying to buy the team. He tried to buy the Flyers in the past.

Or actually it was the 76ers he was trying to buy, not the Flyers. The 76ers are probably worth a bit more than the Devils though.

Why is the team being sold..I thought these reports of any financial problems were lies all lies
