Matches the eye test, more or less. KK ran the Lamborghini’s too fast too early and they ran out of gas.

Rookie move by a rookie coach.
Oilers hire another rookie coach that we sign long term and does the exact same thing the last couple coaches did cause they don’t f***ing learn from each other.

I don’t know. Since they’ve been back together they’ve had some close connects. Like that one cross creased from Nuge to McD that just went wide on the shot. Not saying Nuge is the perfect winger for McD but his poise and ability with his puck touches will probably get the puck on McDs stick more than other guys we have. For example, Kane would be a complete waste next to McD.
Nuge is useless in games like this where we get pressed hard by the opponent. He almost literally wilts under the pressure.

Islands in the stream.
It's a long road to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll. Toughest trophy to win in sports never comes easy. Hard to see it but this team could also reset and grind away. But chasing the puck by losing face-offs all series has hurt their ability to establish their game.
Sure. But to counter we're not respecting pucks when we have it. When has this team ever looked so bad on the PP or in 4 on 4 situations. Its uncanny how bad we were at both of these tonight. That leaves me to suspect Nerves and I've noted all along McD just doesn't seem to be settled in this series. Like his mind is racing and can't calm it down. There was one play tonight where he's open on wing, has time, and he fumbles the puck and it ends up in a dump. So many times where McD isn't even handling a pass. So off. Its like he's having difficulty concentrating and the game slowing down for him.

Hyman was just awful tonight, all zones, and you hate to say it because the guy has been bringing it all year but this is the only time of year that counts. He was great in Kings series and has dropped off too.

We wasted fantastic games from Kane, Holloway and Pickard tonight.

I think they need to start doing the load management thing or whatever that is some NBA teams do with star players do they’re not so burned out at playoff time. Start sitting him & Drai against shitty teams and in back to backs.

Or how about not playing them 35 minutes a night 3 games in a row to start a series? That might work.

Getting murdered in the faceoff for this series was not on my bingo card.

Ain’t over till it’s over my friend. We can and will win 2 games against these Nucks.
It’s definitely not over and they have come back in this situation before. Need McDavid to wake up here though. This isn’t the Avs or Vegas. JT miller can’t be dominating you.

Also RNH cannot be on McDavid’s wing in the playoffs. It’s fine in the regular season when you’re playing sleepy games against average teams but when the intensity ramps up you need a more physical winger or at least someone with a higher motor.
The whole line was awful. It begins though with McDavid who was dominated by Miller and their game plan to keep him on the perimeter. Hyman was also invisible except for his offensive zone holding penalty (and he could have gotten at least one more). Line 1 collectively was the worst on the ice... well maybe McLeod and his line weren't good but ....

He’s not a driver. And he struggles with physicality, we know that. But it’s when he does get his chance with the puck on his stick he will make the right play for the most part, at a level higher than other options we have anyways. Whether that be a pass or that snipe show we saw last game.

Henrique is more of the same. They need someone who has more of a give a shit motor.

Holloway is that but then you worry about his defense since that line needs at least one defensively responsible forward on it.

Holland blew it at the deadline. Not nearly enough added.
A healthy Henrique is an upgrade. It gives them more flexibility.

Perry needs to come out of the lineup at the very least. Bringing Carrick or even Gagner in for him isn't putting them much farther ahead.

Knoblauch is way to ducking laid back. Guy has no hunger. He acts and talks like we just lost just another regular season game. Good lord.
Yeah this is starting to drive me a little crazy. I get being composed but sometimes you need to a light a fire under the teams ass. You are the boss, start acting like it. If players aren’t moving their legs and avoiding finishing their hits then pipe up.

McLeod line had that one nice wrap around at least. Top line created nothing.
