Pasquale Zito also picked up five points (2-3–5) in his return to the Spitfires; it was Zito’s first OHL contest since a pre-season game with North Bay on Sept. 9th
I personally think that Troop fans are quiet and not bragging on this site unlike the other teams on this site that complain when they lose.If you follow the Wolves site u will see what i mean. we as strong followers have put our confidence in Adam Dennis and coaching staff. Im positivethat in the end we will be proud of our teamAfter what I would term a solid character come back road win, I’m surprised there isn’t more post game chatter here. I just had a look at the replay. TSN Turning Point; early 3rd, SSM had scored 2 to take a 1 goal lead with all the momentum, then Battalion took 2 minors close together, 5-3 advantage SSM for 1:50. And during this time, the ‘hounds had a couple of decent looks, but for the most part the defending was excellent. It should be noted that the 3 skaters were D Christopoulos, D Mathurin and C Arnsby. What is most interesting that they not only started the PK but finished it as well. There were a couple of change opportunities with icings, and there were 2 d-zone faceoffs. Ryan Oulahen went the distance with these 3 – excellent coaching decision, and results, with the game on the line. If SSM gets to 4-2 it is probably lights out.
Nice to see the ex-Stings break out with a 4 point night. It was an overall team win. The TV announce team did give the Troops credit for executing their game plan. But most of the blame for the loss was assigned to the ‘hounds’ inconsistency and dis-organization. They described their Fri. home win vs. GUE as playoffs, and this loss as training camp.
I don’t think this year’s version is near as talented as last season’s group but man they are certainly “grittier” which is massive come playoff time.
also like our experience. Just counted and among our veterans we 299 playoff games of exprience. That will be rucial in our run to the playoffs....Matier ...colour guy...gave full credit to Batt....really like Armsby......likes NB development of talent last 3 years...watching his son gave him insight....
So this is a little ways off but seeing how Josh Bloom returned to the league this year, who do we protect as our 4th O/A next season? Dom or Ty? Who do you think has a better chance to play pro next season? Or do you trade their rights in the off season?
Thursdays are a traditional local home-game night but it's also a school night and there's no getting around the depressing effect that has on attendance. Families watching their budgets also may have to decide that if they're going to try and attend a Sunday afternoon game, they may not be able to afford the Thursday before. Maybe someday we'll get more of those coveted Friday nights.Stanley Butler Bowl V. 3.0 goes tonight. NB Battalion are 0-2 lifetime vs. their previous coach. Erie Otters have won 2 straight and seem to be legitimate contenders for a mid-pack Western finish. Is anyone brave enough to predict tonight's outcome? How will Coach handle net duties, DDV in for all 3 this weekend, or some 2 and 1 combo with Mike getting a rare chance?
Last year under 2400 found coach Butler's 1st game back to be a compelling reason to attend. As at 10:30am today, the number is lower. I guess the walkup will be considerable.
This team has to learn how to finish winning games properly. Whenever they are up by 3 goals they let off the gas.
Can't blame that on the players. That's all on the coaching staff and the style they want the guys to play. Butler would be proud of you Oulahan.Let off the gas again
