4 years is a long ways away and there will be guys emerge that we don't suspect yet but will wiggle their way onto the team.Still, anyway you cut it Canada will again have hard choices but pleasant ones with all the toys they will have at their disposal in 2010.It likely will be a better team then this years entry.

Goal:Luongo,Fleury,Ward?

Forwards: Crosby,Staal,Spezza,Mike Richards,Brad Richards,Bergeron,Gagne,Heatley,Lecavalier,Thornton,Nash,Horton,Cheechoo. Wow!!!

Defense: tough call here..........what veterans will still be in the mix then that are on the team now? Anyway:Phaneuf,Bouwmeester,Hamhuis,Regehr,Pronger,Redden, and any one of these guys could go at that time............Neidermayer,Seabrooke,Jackman(barret),Van Ryn,Eminger,Weber.I'll stay with neids as my 7th guy but not really sure he'll be there in 2010 though.

Canada is going to have just a tremendous team, maybe their best since 1987 or 76.........................they look that formidable honestly.

Rick Nash - Sidney Crosby - Dany Heatley
Eric Staal - Jason Spezza - Jarome Iginla
Simon Gagne - Vincent Lecavalier - Brad Richards
Mike Richards - Joe Thornton - Nathan Horton
Bertuzzi / Toews / Esposito / Tavares / Carter

WOW

Jay Bouwmeester - Dion Phaneuf
Scott Niedermayer - Chris Pronger
Wade Redden - Ed Jovanovski
Regehr / Seabrook / Barker / Weber / Boyle / Stuart

Roberto Luongo
Martin Brodeur
Marc-Andre Fleury

Looks like we're going to be Olympic Champions 3 times in a row :yo:

I'm not sure about this year myself but in 2010,i'm already willing to lay money down that it will take a huge upset to beat us.We're going to be so powerful in 2010 it's almost unfair. We're going to be tremendous in Vancouver. The options and firepower on that team are going to be incredible.Good luck world......................you're gonna need it.

Higgins and Kesler play differant roles than guys like Ryan, O'Sullivan, and Schremp. They're already in the NHL and playing well. They'll both be on the team. Forward is the toughest position to call IMO. It could be a very differant mix than the one I have. I just went with guys that were semi-established.
no problem, 2010 the team is imo going to be very young, or atleast younger than we are used too. Because our best players are likely going to be guys 27 and under for the most part. If guys pan out then we could be very good in 2010.

What a shocker!! Know one wants to step foot on this one.Hmm...............................we're gonna kick some *** in 2010.

It is going to be a great team in Canada, but how will they deal with the home town pressure. It is going to be real real high!

The arrogance and homerism level on this board gets higher with each new post.

You won in 2002, 2006 is yet to even happen and you are already saying its a given you will win. And have now moved on to hyping the 2010 team.

This board will crash and be overloaded for 3 months if Canada doesn't win Gold in Italy.

i agree you can't count your chickens before they're hatched but Canada will have a tremendous team in Vancouver and thats what the thread is about. We can toot our horn a little bit i think.Everyone does that.

The Russians are going to be sick good too.

What I have a problem is when someone says..

"Canada is going to be great in 2010, we should be in line for our 3rd straight gold"

How can someone say something so dumb, its ridiculous.

yeah they will be but still not as good as Canada on paper i don't think.Though i agree,we have'nt won the 2006 gold yet and may not.

I don't know if there's a whole lot anyone can say, since it's a fact Canada will again have an impressive team. Other countries will as well, so it's not a foregone conclusion that Canada will win the gold. Russia's offense will be unreal, and the U.S. defense and goaltending should be top-notch.

i agree, other countries will also.Having said that if you look at the paper potential of the Canadian team that will go in there it is the strongest on paper right from top to bottom as far as the early crystal ball can see.Not that it can't lose but that it will be tough to beat and potentiialy has the chance of being the best Canadian team since 87 or 76(maybe better) if that is this teams potential then beating them will be an upset for sure. While i agree counting chickens before they are hatched is wrong i disagree Canadian fans can't verbalize how tremendous that team potentially can be because they will be tremendous for sure.

I mean all fans from everywhere do that,i've seen plenty of American fans talk about just how good their junior team is this year and that it will take a great upset to beat them both before and during this tournament so far so i think it's fine that fans from everywhere can do that with their teams(as long as it's based on solid footing) and with team Canada 2010 it's defenitaly solid ground to tread on,they are going to be awesoome.

6 months if Canada doesnt win the WJC's or Olympics.

Cause the WJC's and Olympics are close to each other and I dont want to see what happens if Canada doesnt win any of the two.

hey,we love our hockey!!

If only you guys had the same passion.Win or lose with us,you know we'll be talking about it!!

Let me rephrase that then: Looks like we will be a heavy contender to win gold for the next two Olympic Games. Happy?

Brewer sucks and will probably never play of the Olympics again. He was there because of Lowe. He wasn't even in TC's top 10 this time around. The rest of the D looks good though.

I was about to post this same thread right after Team USA was announced.

Ages of the 2006 Team USA in 2010...
Rick DiPietro, 29
John-Michael Liles, 30
Jordan Leopold, 30
Brian Gionta, 31
Scott Gomez, 31
Erik Cole, 32
Robert Esche, 32
Mark Parrish, 33
Chris Drury, 34
John Grahame, 35
Brian Rafalski, 37
Brian Rolston, 37
Jason Blake, 37
Darian Hatcher, 38
Keith Tkachuk, 38
Mike Knuble, 38
Aaron Miller, 39
Craig Conroy, 39
Doug Weight, 39
Bill Guerin, 40
Mike Modano, 40
Mathieu Schneider, 41
Chris Chelios, 48

I highly doubt we'll see many of the guys in the mid to late-30s make the team with all of talent from the last few years of WJC teams soon to graduate to the NHL. I can see everyone from Drury and younger playing again but none of them are sure things. Team USA doesn't have the youth pipeline like Canada has with Spezza, Crosby and Staal early in their careers. These guys will only be in the mid-20s when the next Olympics rolls around and with it in Vancouver, the pressure will be on Canada to stay on top. It would be huge for Team USA's new youth movement to take control of the world scene. I'm fairly sure that Canada will put together another powerhouse in 4 years and keep the gold medal.
CHelios could come back, you never know, hes always been a surprise. :dunno:

I cant believe anybody has Esposito on their 2010 team. If Crosby could not make the team at 18, Esposito is not going to make it at 20. I have seen Esposito play, no doubt he is good, but he is nowhere near Crosby at the same age.
I also would be very surprised if Toews makes the next Olympic team, as good as he is. Only a very special(or overrated)player will make the team at 21 or younger. Crosby probably would have made the Olympic team at 19 or 20 had there been an Olympics in 2007 or 2008 but he is truly a special player.

They'll bring back Chelios for the Vancouver Olympics, to model his "Official Chris Chelios Designer Hockey Diapers."

Nash and Bouwmeester made the 04 World Cup team as 20 year olds. Eric Staal technically made or almost made the 2006 Olympic team as a 21 year old. It's not completely out of the question.
