It'll be interesting to see where they decide to pull from to invest in the OL because it needs it.
Their final offensive play was a mess on the OL. Somehow leaving Jones unblocked. Yes, it was a backup RG, but you wonder if SF had a top notch C like a Jason Kelce if he would have adjusted the protection to tell the RG to take Jones while he handles the guy in front of him. Trent is awesome, but if you were ranking the 9 linemen of SF OL vs KC DL, it would be Trent, then Jones, then how many of the KC DL before you pick a SF OL again?
There are OL rated at the end of round 1 to early round 2. Deeper OT draft. Seems like a few will go after Alt and Fashanu in round 1. Heavy CB, OT, WR draft.
That’s because of the Lance debacle.
Finally having a first round draft pick helps.
Yep. In that draft, if SF stays put at 12, could just take Mac Jones or Slater the OT (they still had another year of McGlinchy, but maybe they move him inside, though he doesn't have the build for OG. Too tall and lean for it). Or take Vera-Tucker the OG (he played OT at USC but has since moved inside at the NFL level)
2022, best guys at the end of round 1 to early round 2 were some safeties and CB.
2023, honestly with all of the wear and tear of Kittle, they would have been well served to either go TE with Mayer (who was the best combo of blocker/receiver), or one of the 2 OG in Avila who went to the Rams or Bergeron who went to ATL to solidify the OL.
