GDT: Non-Panthers NFL Discussion part 3: Meet the new season, same as the old season?

I think we see the first threepeat in NFL history in a couple weeks... I get it, a lot of people are tired of the Chiefs (personally I've been pulling them as "my afc team" since Reid got there unless they play the Panthers). But man you gotta appreciate watching greatness in real time. Just like with Ovi and chasing Gretzky. I know it seems like dynasties are super common with the patriots and before that the 49ers, Cowboys, Steelers, etc. but this feels different than those, and I'm not so sure we'll keep seeing dynasties after this Chiefs team.

Also, tell me if I'm wrong but are the Sean McDermott Bills not pretty much the same as the Rod Brind'Amour Hurricanes?? Both teams with long streaks of winning at least 1 playoff game/series, a handful of conference championship appearances but can't get over the hump and make the SB or Cup Finals.

Hopefully we change that narrative this year though.

This Eagles team is far more complete than the one who lost 2 years ago. Defensively, they are a completely different animal, able to dominate the LOS with a 4 man rush. And offensively, if the Chiefs slow them down, it'll be the first team to do it over the last 4 months.

The Chiefs are definitely great, but people are seriously sleeping on just how dominant this Eagles team has been since they were 2-2 at the bye.

Quite frankly, I'm glad we are facing them again. Have some unfinished business after that last one.

Maybe. McDermott last year did make the OC change every Bills fan begged him to do. Rod will die for Gleason and Daniels.

I've never understood (american) football. I never realised they play so little amount of games compared to the other major sports. And its always the Chiefs in the final, boooring..

And before the Chiefs it was the Patriots. For as popular as the sport is here I'm not convinced that the biggest reason isn't for gambling purposes and the fact that it's easy to watch on TV since it's not a ton of action so you don't miss much hitting the can or what have you after plays

Sounds like the best type of background sport while cleaning or doing literally anything else

this reminds me of story...

my hometown high school football coach was every stereotype you can think of. one year he went to some big coaching conference (all sports, not just football) and the keynote speaker was bobby knight.

bobby apparently pissed of hometown football coach. at some point in his talk, bobby went on an aside to basically say football coaches have it easy as hell because they play one play, then stop and talk about what to do, then repeat. no flow, no need to coach the players on anything but what the plays are ahead of time, instead of also coaching what to do in the flow of the game and how to be situationally aware without having to stop and talk it over.

i always got a laugh out of that. very on brand for bobby knight, and honestly he had a point lol
