Clemson going to Cowboy? Or the inverse or sam thing??
I mean even as someone who likes the Cowboys (dad and grandpa were fans of Tom Landry), Clemson has 2 more recent championships than Dallas.

I'm definitely not a Swift fan overall (and generally think very little of most pop artists)...but I gotta give her props, this tour she's doing is pretty incredible in scope, scale, and popularity. And she's maintained a very down-to-earth seeming demeanor and humility despite this being probably one of the biggest concert tours in history.I knew Taylor Swift was big (popular), but since I don't have any daughters, I guess I didn't pay enough attention to just how big she is. The whole Swift/Kelce story is all over the sports news (not just NFL), all over talk radio, all over the national news, and even all over politics.
Truly remarkable how much publicity something like this garners but I guess it shouldn't be a surprise.
Not sure if it's true, but I saw on the news last night that Swift's current tour is estimated to add $5B in consumer spending, that her net worth is closing in on $1B (she's at about $750M now) and that she has over 500 Million fans.
Regardless of her actual music, has any performer ever really been bigger/more popular for such a long stretch? Maybe Michael Jackson during his prime, but he went off the deep end quickly and there wasn't the social media that we have now. Elvis and the Beatles were too far back and there wasn't the media coverage or social media coverage that people have now. Madonna was up there but turned a lot of people off (and on) due to here provocative nature. Elton John? probably not.

LOVE IT!The Denver Broncos are a special kind of suck.
Bufallo going for 70 this week?
The Denver Broncos are a special kind of suck.
Update, they passed the torch of suck to the Bears.
How did the bears clench defeat from the jaws of victory
Michael Jackson was magnitudes more popular world wide than Swift is now, and that remained well after he “went off the deep end” whatever that means. He was the most famous active celebrity for like 15-20 years and that remained even well after the legal issues and his hiatus from performing, considering how big his This Is It comeback tour was set to be before his passing.I knew Taylor Swift was big (popular), but since I don't have any daughters, I guess I didn't pay enough attention to just how big she is. Controversy sure, not really "going off the deep end" considering he was still selling out tours and releasing #1 records. And the burns weren't "resulting from drug use" they were a result of a pyrotechnics malfunction on a pepsi commercial which in fact led to significant health issues which got him hooked on prescription pain meds in the first place.I mean the drugs problems, the problems (such as the burns) resulting from drug use, the extensive cosmetic surgery, sharing his bed with children, sexual assault, etc.. There was controversy surrounding him for a lot of years. That's not new news that there was that kind of controversy with him in the 90s.
I'm a man. I'm fourty (two), and I BARELY remember the Walter Payton, Jim McMahon teams. I think Payton's last year was the first year I followed football all that much.I'm 35 and the only time I can remember the Bears actually being really good was the year they had Rex Grossman lead them to a Super Bowl appearance.
And I guess one year with Cutler they were good. But man, what a sad franchise.

Fair enough. And the burns weren't "resulting from drug use" they were a result of a pyrotechnics malfunction on a pepsi commercial which in fact led to significant health issues which got him hooked on prescription pain meds in the first place.
My post wasn't responding to your statement about MJ's fame. After reading your post and considering it, I didn't necessarily disagree with your assessment, thus I didn't comment on it. I was only responding to your line about "deep end".And frankly none of that is relevant to the discussion of popularity and level of fame.
I remember the 85 Bears very well, particularly as a Packers fan. So many amazing characters on that team.I'm a man. I'm fourty (two), and I BARELY remember the Walter Payton, Jim McMahon teams. I think Payton's last year was the first year I followed football all that much.
Rihanna is the #8 best-selling musician of all time on this wiki list, with 230-250 million record sales. In terms of certified units (including streaming), she's actually ahead of the rest of the top 10 including the Beatles, and also ahead of Taylor. Taylor is moving up quickly, but she is still about 50 million record sales behind Rihanna.I don't think Mariah Carey is even in, or ever has been in, the same ballpark as Swift when you take into account everything (not just the music part). I think Madonna was probably the closest during her stretch. She had more controversy, which in part added to her appeal to some. Early on, Madonna had the teenage followers like Swift does. Carey never did.
Beyonce is a good comparison, but Swift seems to have an even bigger following.
Rhianna is one I forgot that made a fortune outside of music, but I don't think she's ever had the total appeal/following that Swift has.
Just for grins. Estimated Net worth of some of these female artists (various internet sources so must be right):
Rhianna: $1.4B (35 years old). A lot of that came from her make-up and clothing line Fenty (never heard of it but apparently it's worth $3B).
Madonna: $850M (65 years old). Most of that came from music/tours.
Celine Dion: $800M (55 years old). Apparently, made most of her money performing regularly in Vegas.
Taylor Swift: $730M (33 years old). Most of it comes from her tours.
Beyonce: $540M (42 years old). Most of it from tours/music.
Mariah Carey: $340M (54 years old). Music, endorsements, royalties.
