Absolute idiocy on the part of the Nets and their architects. In this day and age it practically takes effort to make a basketball stadium not support hockey. And they built this at a time when they knew the Islanders were getting desperate for a new home. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I doubt they ever considered the Islanders coming there a possibility. It was built exclusively for basketball and the Islanders are so desperate they'll play darn near anywhere.

They built it within the last five years, when the Islanders were already actively looking for a new arena. Maybe they didn't consider it, but that would make them colossal idiots.

This is, like, a vintage Milbury-era boondoggle.

Is that Barclays? I keep hearing Islanders fans raving about how it's top-5 in the league.

It's supposed to be very nice in concourse area and all that jazz but that thing is clearly not built for Hockey.

Went over to the Islanders board; they have a thread on arena experience.

Apparently they have a LOT of obstructed view seats. Disappointing.

Aside from steepness, tight leg room, narrow corridor food court, it seems that there may be as much as 20% of seats that are from very obstructed to problematic, Could be as much as 25% when factoring in top rows of upper sections where heads of those seated below interfere.

A place.
Wow....you'd think the NHL would try to block the Islanders from moving into a place like that. Or that they would at least try to center the ice in the arena better. Or...pretty much anything.

That arena is a joke for hockey.

One thing that is good, is that they're not totally pricing working-class/college/etc. fans out of the new smaller arena. Yes, the obstructed view sucks, but they're also only $14.

I'd rather pay $0, see the whole game from my couch.

Oilers assigned Klefbom to OKC after one rough preseason game against Winnipeg.

By the way, there was no penalty on the play. And some Jokerit-fans are actually saying it was a clean hit, and Karalahti had his hands down. Yeah, no.

If not an elbow, he at least had his hands up before the contact. The hit was directed at the upper body, whether it was chest, throat or head is unclear but he should receive anything from 3 to 6 games, if recent Liiga suspensions are anything to go by.

Scott had no right to go after Kessel. Tropp got his ass ripped. Kessel should have carved his face like the good ol' days. No way should Clarkson get a suspension for coming off the bench and protecting a superstar that is giving up 8 inches and 80 pounds in a fight.

As for the goalie fight. At least Miller tried.
